The Innovation Story
Dadar
The Innovation Story runs competitive robotics programs for school teams in the FIRST Tech Challenge, an international competition where students design, build and program a robot for an annual game. As a Programming Mentor you will coach students to write the code that runs their robot — autonomous routines, driver controls, sensors and motion control.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Run weekly programming sessions with assigned school teams.
- Teach Java and the FTC SDK — OpModes, hardware mapping, gamepad input, telemetry.
- Guide students through sensors, PID/PIDF tuning, state machines and path following (Road Runner, Pedro Pathing, NextFTC).
- Set up dev environments, introduce Git, and teach systematic debugging.
- Get autonomous routines competition-ready ahead of qualifiers; support driver practice.
- Attend scrimmages and competition events; support fixes on-site while students execute them.
- Report progress and blockers weekly to the Lead Mentor.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Pursuing or recently completed a degree in CS, Electronics,
Mechatronics or a related engineering field.
- Working proficiency in Java (or strong OOP in C++/C#/Kotlin with ability to pick up Java quick).
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to school students — patience matters more than brilliance here.
- Reliability: teams depend on mentors showing up every week, including weekends in peak season.
- Willingness to travel to competition venues; must clear background verification.
Bonus: prior FIRST experience (FTC/FRC/FLL) · REV Control Hub familiarity · OpenCV or AprilTag work · control theory · teaching or tutoring background.
WHAT YOU GET
Hands-on mentoring experience with a competitive international robotics program · deep practical exposure to embedded robotics and control systems · structured training on the FTC control system · travel to regional and national events ·
Pay: ₹10,000.00 - ₹15,000.00 per month
Work Location: In person
