The Travel Consultant (International Rate Desk) is responsible for reviewing domestic and international airline transactions to ensure applicable airline commissions are accurately identified, applied, and retained. This role requires strong knowledge of airline commission agreements, ticketing and exchange processes, fare construction, and GDS functionality. The incumbent reviews straight-sale tickets, exchanges, and commission exceptions; interprets airline commission agreements and profiles; identifies missed or incorrect commission opportunities; and works with internal teams to resolve discrepancies. The role plays an important part in protecting airline revenue, improving commission accuracy, and reducing financial leakage.
Key Responsibilities
- Review domestic and international airline tickets and exchanges for commission accuracy and eligibility.
- Interpret and apply airline commission contracts, agreements, commission profiles, ticket designators, and applicable rules.
- Audit straight-sale and exchange transactions to identify missed, incorrect, or recoverable commission.
- Monitor and process commission queues and exception reports across multiple offices/PCCs.
- Review daily missed-commission reporting and coordinate corrections or adjustments with ARC and appropriate internal teams.
- Analyze electronic tickets, fare calculations, exchange history, original forms of payment, and associated PNR documentation to determine appropriate commission treatment.
- Research and resolve complex commission discrepancies and exceptions, including exchanged and reissued tickets.
- Identify opportunities to maximize eligible airline commission revenue while maintaining compliance with airline agreements and ticketing requirements.
- Support investigation and resolution of commission-related debit memos and other revenue discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate documentation and tracking of commission adjustments, recoveries,
exceptions, and unresolved items.
- Escalate contract, system, or process issues that may create recurring commission leakage or financial exposure.
- Collaborate with ARC, Supplier Management, Operations, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve commission-related issues.
- Maintain current knowledge of airline commission programs, contract changes, GDS functionality, and industry ticketing practices.
- Support process improvements and automation initiatives designed to increase commission accuracy, productivity, and revenue capture.
Qualifications & Experience
- 2+ years of corporate travel, airline ticketing, International Rate Desk, air fulfillment, or related travel-industry experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing airline commissions, international fares, ticketing, exchanges, or reissues.
- Strong knowledge of airline commission agreements and the ability to interpret commission contracts, profiles, tables, and rules.
- Advanced working knowledge of Sabre and/or Apollo/Travelport, Amadeus experience is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of domestic and international airline ticketing, electronic tickets, fare calculations, exchanges, reissues, and refunds.
- Experience researching complex PNR and ticket histories and identifying commission discrepancies.
- Familiarity with ARC processes and airline debit memos preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately in a high-volume, deadline-driven production setting.
- Ability to independently research and resolve exceptions while recognizing when escalation is required.
- Proficiency with Excel and other reporting/tracking tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across operational and support teams.
