Aruna Promoters Pvt Ltd operates a specialized waterfront marine fabrication and ship-component facility in Cheranallur, Ernakulam, supporting major shipbuilding and ship-repair programs, including projects associated with Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL).

We are seeking an experienced Marine Fabricator specialized in Ship Hatch Cover Fabrication, Fitting, and Repair. In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end structural fitting, plate fabrication, assembly of hatch cover panels, seal retaining channels, compression bars, hinge mechanisms, and coamings, ensuring strict alignment, dimensional tolerance, and weathertight integrity according to classification society rules.

Key Responsibilities

1. Blueprint Interpretation & Material Layout

- Read and interpret marine structural drawings, hatch cover fabrication plans, nestings, welding symbols, and alignment tolerance sheets.
- Mark, lay out, and verify reference lines, centerlines, camber, and squareness on high-tensile and mild steel marine plates before fabrication.

2. Hatch Cover Panel Assembly & Structural Fitting

- Cut, bevel, shape,



and fit top plates, skirt plates, longitudinal stiffeners, transverse webs, and internal diaphragm plates using plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, and grinding tools.
- Align and fit critical hatch cover hardware: rubber gasket retaining channels, compression bars, drainage channels, resting pads, guide brackets, and quick-acting cleat housings.
- Assemble panel hinge points, balancing rollers, wheel assemblies, and cylinder bracket attachments with strict adherence to levelness and planar tolerances.

3. Welding & Distortion Control

- Execute high-precision tack welding and root joints using SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc) and GMAW/FCAW (MIG/Flux-Cored Arc) processes.
- Apply preheating and balanced welding/fitting sequences to minimize thermal distortion and angular distortion across large hatch cover panel spans.

Qualifications and Experience

- Education: Any qualification can apply / Practical experience
- Experience:
- 3+ years of hands-on structural steel fabrication experience in a shipyard, marine workshop, or heavy structural steel plant.
