Job Purpose

The Trainee Engineer – Production & Management will work closely with the Management and Production Team Leaders to ensure smooth and efficient day-to-day production operations.

The primary responsibility of the TE is to understand, monitor, coordinate, and improve the production process, with particular focus on the Assembly Line and Repair Line.

The MT will monitor daily production targets, production cycles, manpower deployment, line performance, quality, repair/rework, material availability, and production delays.

The position requires a hands-on person who is comfortable working on the shop floor and coordinating closely with Team Leaders and operators.

The TE will gradually develop the ability to independently monitor production performance and provide management with accurate and timely information for decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Production Target Management

- Understand the daily production target given by Management/Production Head.
- Communicate and coordinate the target with respective Team Leaders.
- Break down the daily target into practical hourly/shift targets.
- Monitor actual production against the planned target.
- Identify target shortfalls immediately.
- Discuss reasons for shortfall with the Team Leader.
- Coordinate corrective actions to achieve the planned target.
- Maintain daily production achievement records.
- Report production status to management at regular intervals.

Example:

Daily Target → Shift Target → Hourly Target → Actual Production → Gap → Reason → Corrective Action

2. Assembly Line Management

The TE will closely monitor the Assembly Line and work with the Team Leader to ensure smooth production flow.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor the complete assembly process.
- Understand the production cycle/time required for each process.




- Monitor line speed and output.
- Ensure the required manpower is available at each workstation.
- Identify bottlenecks in the assembly line.
- Monitor operator productivity.
- Check whether each workstation is working according to the required cycle time.
- Coordinate with the Team Leader when production falls behind schedule.
- Monitor material availability at the line.
- Coordinate with Stores/Material team for shortages.
- Coordinate with Quality for quality-related stoppages.
- Coordinate with Maintenance for machine/equipment-related problems.
- Monitor line stoppages and downtime.
- Ensure production targets are achieved without compromising quality.

3. Repair Line Management

The TE will also closely monitor the Repair Line and ensure that repaired/reworked products move through the process efficiently.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor the quantity received for repair/rework.
- Monitor repair output against the daily target.
- Track pending repair quantities.
- Monitor repair cycle time.
- Identify reasons for repair/rework.
- Coordinate with Team Leaders and technicians regarding pending repairs.
- Monitor repeat failures and recurring repair issues.
- Coordinate with Quality for inspection and approval.
- Ensure repaired products are properly recorded and transferred to the next process.
- Track repair backlog and aging.
- Escalate major or repeated repair problems to management.

4. Production Cycle Monitoring

The TE should develop a strong understanding of the production cycle for each major product/process.

Responsibilities:

- Understand the complete production flow from material input to finished product.
- Understand the standard cycle time of each important process.
- Compare standard cycle time with actual cycle time.
- Identify processes operating above standard cycle time.
- Identify bottlenecks and waiting time.




- Monitor line balancing.
- Work with Team Leaders to improve production flow.
- Maintain basic production cycle data.
- Highlight opportunities to reduce cycle time and improve productivity.

5. Team Leader Coordination

The TE will work very closely with Team Leaders and should establish a strong daily coordination system.

Daily Coordination With TL:

- Discuss the daily target before starting production.
- Confirm manpower availability.
- Confirm material availability.
- Confirm machine/equipment readiness.
- Review previous day's production performance.
- Identify expected production problems.
- Monitor hourly production.
- Discuss production gaps immediately.
- Support TL in resolving operational issues.
- Escalate issues that cannot be resolved at Team Leader level.
- Review end-of-shift production performance.

Key Principle:

The TE should not unnecessarily replace or override the Team Leader.

The MT's role is to monitor, coordinate, support, analyze, and escalate, while the Team Leader remains responsible for direct supervision of operators and line execution.

6. Cross-Functional Coordination

The MT will coordinate with:

- Bottlenecks

- Rejection
- Rework
- Quality issues
- Inspection delays
- Customer-related quality concerns

Maintenance

- Machine breakdown
- Equipment availability
- Preventive maintenance
- Production stoppages

Stores / Material

For:

- Material availability
- Shortages
- Line feeding
- Inventory-related production delays

Management

For:

- Daily production performance
- Major issues
- Target achievement
- Improvement opportunities
- Escalations

Qualification & Experience

Education: Electrical Engineer in - Diploma / B.E./ B. Tech / Graduate in Engineering,

Experience: 0–2 years. Freshers with strong analytical and communication skills may be considered.

Experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment will be an advantage.
