Job Description – HOD – Transport

Position: Head of Department (HOD) – Transport
Location: Sikar, Rajasthan
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the overall school transportation operations.
- Plan and monitor school bus routes, schedules, pickup/drop points, and vehicle allocation.
- Ensure safe, timely, and productive transportation services for students and staff.
- Supervise drivers, attendants, transport coordinators, and other transport staff.
- Prepare and maintain duty rosters and ensure adequate staffing for all routes.
- Monitor driver and attendant performance, discipline, attendance, and compliance with transport SOPs.
- Ensure all vehicles have valid registration, insurance, fitness certificates, permits, pollution certificates, and other required documents.
- Coordinate regular servicing, repairs, maintenance, and inspection of school vehicles.
- Conduct regular safety checks of buses and ensure compliance with school transport safety standards.
- Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, maintenance costs, and other transport-related expenses.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicles, drivers, routes, incidents, maintenance, fuel, and other transport activities.
- Handle and resolve transportation-related concerns raised by parents, students, and employees.
- Coordinate with parents regarding route changes, pickup/drop issues, delays, and other transport-related matters.
- Ensure proper student boarding and drop-off procedures and maintain student safety throughout transportation.




- Coordinate with security, administration, HR, and other departments for smooth transport operations.
- Develop and implement emergency response procedures for accidents, breakdowns, and other transport-related incidents.
- Coordinate with external transport vendors and service providers, wherever applicable.
- Conduct regular training and safety briefings for drivers and transport staff.
- Prepare regular transport MIS and reports for management.
- Identify operational gaps and implement measures to improve safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

Eligibility & Skills

- Qualification: Graduate/Post-Graduate in any relevant discipline.
- Diploma/Certification in Transport Management, Operations, Logistics, or a related field will be an advantage.
- Proven experience in school transport, fleet management, logistics, or transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle documentation, safety standards, and transport compliance.
- Experience in managing drivers, attendants, routes, and fleet operations.
- Strong leadership, team management, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel/Google Sheets and transport MIS.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to handle emergencies and work under pressure.
- High level of responsibility, discipline, accountability, and safety consciousness.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
