Job Summary

The Psychologist will play a pivotal role in advancing the Pediatric Psycho-Oncology (PPO) Programme at CanKids KidsCan, a national NGO dedicated to transforming childhood cancer care in India. With a mission to ensure 100% Access2Care and 100% Financial Protection by 2030, aligned with the WHO GICC and Sustainable Development Goals, this role is central to delivering holistic, psychosocial support to children with cancer and their families. The Psychologist will lead the implementation of evidence-based psychological interventions across treatment phasesdiagnosis, treatment, relapse, palliative care, and bereavementthrough individual and group counseling, expressive therapies, child life activities, and psycho-education. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams in hospitals, clinics, and via tele-consultation, the Psychologist will contribute to building resilient families, improving quality of life, and strengthening system-level capacity. Responsibilities

- Plan, implement, and oversee the Pediatric Psycho-Oncology Programme (PPOP) across hospital and community settings.
- Develop and refine protocols, policies, and administrative frameworks for psychological services.
- Deliver psychological interventions through face-to-face, online, and telephonic platforms.
- Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments using standardized tools, interviews,



and observational methods.
- Provide individual and family counseling throughout all stages of the cancer journey.
- Design and monitor personalized treatment plans, with regular follow-ups and progress tracking.
- Lead and facilitate group sessions for children and parents, including Sharing Caring Sessions.
- Implement expressive therapies such as play, art, music, storytelling, relaxation techniques, and clown therapy.
- Deliver non-pharmacological procedural pain interventions to support children during medical procedures.
- Promote child-friendly environments through libraries, wish-granting initiatives, and therapeutic activities.
- Conduct psycho-education workshops on stress management, behavioral challenges, and coping strategies.
- Provide psychological consultation to healthcare and support teams, and lead the You Are Not Alone (YANA) Program.
- Train psychologists, social workers, students, and professionals in pediatric psycho-oncology best practices.
- Design and execute research projects to evaluate psychological interventions and contribute to evidence-based practice.
- Maintain accurate case records, manage digital patient data, and prepare monthly, quarterly,



and annual reports.
- Develop and maintain resource directories, and facilitate access to external counseling and rehabilitation services.
- Support cross-functional initiatives and contribute to organizational programs as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Reporting Manager.

Requirements

- Masters degree in Psychology (MA in Psychology) from a recognized institution.
- 13 years of experience in clinical, counseling, or pediatric psychology, preferably in healthcare or NGO settings.
- Proven experience in psychological assessments, individual and group therapy, and trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrated proficiency in expressive therapies, child life interventions, and non-pharmacological pain management.
- Robust interpersonal, communication, and counseling skills with empathy and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure, emotionally sensitive environments.
- Competence in documentation, data management, and report writing.
- Familiarity with healthcare systems, ethical standards, and confidentiality protocols.
- Adaptability, resilience, and a results-driven mindset with a passion for social impact.
