Route One Advisory Services is expanding its accounting and advisory practice and is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join our team.

This role will support Route One's clients with tax compliance, tax preparation, financial reporting, tax-related research, and tax planning support while working closely with our accounting and senior advisory teams.

The ideal candidate combines robust technical accounting and tax knowledge with the ability to work across multiple client engagements and communicate effectively with internal teams and clients.

What You'll Do

- Prepare and support preparation of federal, state, and local tax returns for business entities and individuals, as applicable
- Prepare supporting tax schedules and workpapers
- Review financial statements and general ledger activity for tax reporting purposes
- Perform tax account reconciliations and identify discrepancies
- Research tax issues and provide supporting analysis
- Assist with tax planning and estimated tax calculations
- Support tax projections and scenario analysis
- Assist with year-end tax provision and tax-related accounting activities
- Coordinate tax information and documentation with clients
- Identify missing or inconsistent information required for tax filings
- Assist with responding to tax notices and other tax authority correspondence
- Support tax audits and information requests
- Work closely with Route One's accounting and advisory teams to ensure tax considerations are incorporated into client financial planning
- Assist with tax-related due diligence and transaction projects when applicable
- Maintain organized and complete tax workpapers and documentation
- Stay current with relevant tax law, regulations, and filing requirements
- Assist with special tax and accounting projects as needed

The Tax Accountant will have the opportunity to work alongside accounting and fractional

CFO/business advisory teams , helping clients understand the tax implications of business decisions and identifying opportunities to improve tax efficiency and financial outcomes.

This may include supporting clients with business growth, ownership changes, acquisitions,

financing, distributions, entity structure, profitability initiatives, and other significant financial decisions.

What We're Looking For

- 3–5+ years of professional tax accounting experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Robust understanding of tax accounting principles and tax compliance
- Experience preparing or reviewing business tax returns
- Strong knowledge of tax research and tax documentation
- Experience with tax preparation software and accounting systems
- Strong Excel skills
- CPA or equivalent professional designation is a plus
- Experience supporting U.S. tax compliance is strongly preferred
- Experience working with multiple clients or engagements is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a broader accounting and advisory team
