Hirely is recruiting Telugu Data Annotation & Transcription Experts on behalf of a hiring partner to help build high-quality training data for AI systems.

The project involves working with real, publicly available PDF documents in Telugu and creating accurate structural annotations and transcriptions.

What You'll Do

- Review PDF pages and confirm they are in Telugu, legible, contain real content, and have no personal details.
- Identify and annotate meaningful regions such as titles, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, figures, diagrams, captions, formulas, questions, and answer fields.
- Assign component types and reading-order indexes.
- Link regions to the figures or tables they belong to.
- Transcribe text exactly as it appears in Telugu script, including handwritten content.
- Flag illegible regions.
- Capture page metadata such as language, document type, source, and page dimensions.
- Flag tables, formulas, and handwriting.
- Review other Telugu experts' work as you gain experience.

Who You Are

- Proficient in Telugu with full command of Telugu script, diacritics, and conjunct forms.
- Experience with annotation, transcription, translation, localization, subtitling, proofreading, journalism, or regional-language data review.
- Highly accurate and detail-oriented, with character-level accuracy more key than speed.
- Able to apply a consistent taxonomy across large numbers of pages.
- Comfortable working with unfamiliar layouts, including multi-column newspapers, exam papers, and handwritten forms.

Nice to Have

- Experience with regional-language AI data annotation, labeling, grading, or bilingual evaluation.
- Experience with transcription,



localization, MTPE, subtitling, bilingual QA, OCR correction, or post-editing.
- Telugu-language typesetting, copy-editing, proofreading, or digitization experience.
- Familiarity with Unicode normalization, Telugu input methods, and accurate handling of numerals and character forms.

What Success Looks Like

- Every meaningful page region is correctly captured, bounded, and typed.
- Reading order accurately reflects how the page is read, including across columns.
- Transcriptions match the source character for character in Telugu script.
- Tasks pass second-expert review.
- Unsuitable pages are identified before substantial work is performed.
