Roles and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Patient Care

- Assess and monitor patients regularly and report any changes in condition to the doctor/Ward In-charge.

- Provide direct nursing care according to the patient's condition and treatment plan.

- Check and record vital signs, intake/output, pain score, and other required observations.

- Assist patients with personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and other daily needs.

- Maintain patient comfort, safety, dignity, and privacy.

Medication & Treatment

- Administer medications, injections, IV fluids, and other treatments as prescribed.

- Follow correct medication administration procedures and maintain medication records.

- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and immediately report abnormalities.

- Perform wound care, dressing, catheter care, and other nursing procedures as required.

Doctor & Team Coordination

- Assist doctors during rounds and procedures.

- Communicate patient updates and critical observations promptly.

- Coordinate with laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, OT, ICU, and other departments when required.

- Participate in patient admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.

Documentation





- Maintain accurate and timely nursing notes and patient records.

- Record vital signs, medications, treatments, procedures, and patient progress.

- Maintain nursing checklists, handover records, and other ward documentation.

- Ensure proper shift handover to the incoming nursing staff.

Infection Control & Safety

- Follow hospital infection-control policies and standard precautions.

- Maintain cleanliness and proper disposal of biomedical waste.

- Follow patient identification and safety protocols.

- Report incidents, medication errors, falls, or other safety concerns immediately.

Emergency Responsibilities

- Respond promptly to medical emergencies within the ward.

- Assist doctors during emergency procedures and resuscitation.

- Ensure emergency equipment and supplies are available and ready for use.

Ward Management

- Maintain proper stock of medicines, consumables, and nursing supplies.

- Check equipment and report any malfunction to the concerned department.

- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected ward environment.

- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and nursing standards.
