About the Opportunity A leading Engineering MNC is looking for an experienced Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager Valve Actuator Engineering to join its R&D; / Product Engineering team.

This role is responsible for the design, development, testing, validation, and industrialization of pneumatic valve actuators used in industrial valve automation and safety-critical applications. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in actuator design, engineering calculations, prototyping, testing, and product validation.

Key Responsibilities

Pneumatic Valve Actuator Design & Development

- Design and develop pneumatic valve actuators, including spring-return and double-acting configurations.
- Develop current actuator concepts and drive product improvements and customization.
- Perform detailed mechanical design considering pressure systems, sealing, spring mechanisms, materials, and reliability.
- Create and review 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings.
- Identify opportunities for performance enhancement, cost optimization, and design improvements.

Engineering Calculations & Sizing

- Perform actuator sizing based on valve torque and thrust requirements.
- Carry out torque, thrust, spring force, pressure, and air consumption calculations.
- Evaluate actuator performance across varying operating pressures, temperatures, and duty cycles.
- Support component selection for springs, seals, bearings, and other critical parts.

Prototype Development, Testing & Validation

- Develop and evaluate prototypes.
- Define and execute functional, endurance, environmental, and qualification testing.




- Prepare test plans, procedures, acceptance criteria, and validation reports.
- Analyze test results and implement design improvements.
- Support reliability and product qualification activities.

Standards & Compliance

- Ensure designs comply with applicable international standards and customer requirements.

- Work with standards including
- ISO, IEC, ATEX, SIL, PED
- Support certification and compliance documentation for hazardous-area and pressure-equipment applications.

Valve Automation Integration

- Integrate actuators with:

- Industrial valves

- Valve positioners

- Solenoid valves

- NAMUR accessories

- Limit switches
- Ensure proper mechanical and functional compatibility between valves and automation components.
- Troubleshoot actuator integration and performance issues.

Technical Documentation

Prepare and maintain

- Engineering drawings
- 3D CAD models
- Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Product specifications
- Design calculations
- Test plans and reports
- Validation documentation
- Engineering change records

Manufacturing & Industrialization Support

- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and suppliers during product industrialization.
- Support DFM/DFA reviews and manufacturing feasibility.
- Resolve engineering issues during prototype and production stages.
- Participate in supplier technical evaluations and cost optimization initiatives.

Field Support & Continuous Improvement

- Investigate field failures and customer-reported issues.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA)



and implement corrective actions.
- Drive continuous improvement in product reliability and manufacturing performance.

Required Qualifications

- B.E./B.Tech. or M.E./M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.

- Knowledge of ATEX and hazardous-area product design.
- Familiarity with SIL, IEC, ISO, and PED standards.
- Experience with valve positioners, NAMUR interfaces, and industrial control systems.
- Exposure to product certification, supplier development, and manufacturing support.
