Job Title : Senior Sourcing Engineer

Reporting : Regional Sourcing Lead

Location : India, Mumbai

- Undertake supplier identification, evaluation, and onboarding.
- Undertake assigned sourcing initiatives, projects, and bid support activities focusing on optimal pricing and performance.
- Ensure a detailed understanding of the technical specifications, quality expectations, and logistic requirements for all projects undertaken.
- Model and base sourcing decisions on TCO for all assigned projects and commodities
- Identify and engage freight forwarders/carriers, oversee and ensure appropriate visibility of deliveries and monitor performance and costs.
- Coordinate with QA Teams to ensure supplier meets requirement.
- Monitor, measure and manage the performance of all assigned projects and suppliers.
- Support a regional sourcing strategy that emphasizes regional opportunities
- Support and maintain a regional supplier database, detailing supplier capabilities
- Understand emerging technology and PLP products requirements to ensure alignment of suppliers with PLP’s needs.
- Understand the risks withing the supply base and ensure a TCO approach to sourcing activities
- Undertake improvement initiatives to provide guidance and training in lean principles and techniques.
- Arrange and facilitate project updates and performance reviews with key stakeholders as required
- Support regional leads with global operating system activities.
- Ensure explicit and concise communication of negotiated supply agreements and pricing.
- Stay up to date with international trading requirements and delivery terms.
- Ensure prompt resolution of pricing and invoice queries.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include identifying, assessing, and overseeing qualification of suppliers for assigned products, commodities, or projects, and developing expertise in support of global supply chain objectives and PLP facilities. Researching, evaluating, reviewing, and auditing new and existing suppliers both remotely and at supplier locations. Undertaking on-going supplier development, and data analysis to identify process and cost improvements based on total cost of ownership.

You shall administer meaningful metrics to track supplier performance and shall engage key stakeholders to communicate status reports on a timely basis.

Skills & Experience :

- Min 5 years’ experience purchasing and/or sourcing engineered products
- Technical background with experience of one or more of the following processes: casting, forging, fabrication, welding, mechanical assembly.
- Excellent negotiations skills
- Good understanding of lean manufacturing principles and methods
- Experience in managing and delivering manufacturing projects internationally.
- Skilled at spend and market trend data analytics
- Excellent communicator (must be fluent in technical and conversational English)

Qualifications and Educational Requirements :

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent discipline

Computer Skills :

- Strong digital competency including advanced MS Excel.

Travel Requirements :

- Frequent to new and current suppliers approx. 30%

- Good leadership skills across internationally diverse multi-functional teams.

- Excellent problem-solving skills.
