Role Description The Software Development Engineer I will build and maintain the backend services and infrastructure that support our market making operations. In this full time remote role, the engineer will work alongside senior engineers on exchange integrations, market data pipelines, monitoring and observability tooling, and the operational systems that keep our liquidity provision running reliably across venues.

Day to day responsibilities include writing clean, well tested code, building and maintaining market data adapters and execution gateways for new exchanges, developing dashboards and alerting for positions, PnL and uptime, and creating tooling for inventory management, reconciliation and reporting. The role involves participating in code review, investigating production issues, and progressively taking ownership of larger parts of the system.

This is a hands on role from the start. Your code will run in production and support live trading within your first few months. As you demonstrate judgement and ownership, you will move closer to the core quoting and risk systems.

Qualifications

- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and networking.
- 1-2 years of qualified experience.

- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Rust, Python, C++, Go, Java) with a solid grasp of Object Oriented and systems level programming concepts.
- Exposure to Backend Web Development, including APIs, services, and working with external systems over the network.
- Comfort with Linux, the command line, and debugging real systems.
- Understanding of concurrency and asynchronous programming: threads, event loops, sockets, and what happens when connections fail.
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and an interest in messaging systems, containers, and cloud native tooling.
- Comfort with modern development workflows: version control, testing, CI/CD, and code review.
- Genuine curiosity about digital asset markets, exchanges, and how trading actually works. Prior finance experience is not required, but a willingness to learn the domain quickly is.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, communicate clearly in writing, and ask for help early.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have: Rust experience, personal projects involving real time data or APIs, exposure to crypto exchanges even as a hobbyist, time series databases, or open source contributions we can look at.
