About Aretto
Aretto makes kids' shoes with a sole that expands across three sizes, so one pair lasts roughly a school year instead of a season. We sell direct-to-consumer on Shopify in a category dominated by marketplaces and legacy brands. Our storefront is not a catalogue - it is the entire sales floor, the sizing consultant and the returns desk.
This role owns that storefront.
What you'll own
Storefront build and performance
- Own the Shopify theme end to end: Liquid, JSON templates, sections, blocks, metaobjects.
- Hold Core Web Vitals in the green on mobile. Most of our traffic is a parent on a mid-range Android phone on 4G, and every 100ms shows up in conversion.
- Ship the size-selector, expandable-sole explainer and size-chart experiences - the highest-leverage conversion surfaces we have.
Conversion and experimentation
- Build and instrument A/B tests on PDP, collection and cart. Work with marketing on hypotheses, not just implementation.
- Implement analytics and event tracking correctly: GA4, Meta CAPI, server-side tagging, consent handling.
Apps, integrations and data
- Evaluate, integrate and - where an app is bloating the theme - replace apps with native code. Every app you add is a performance and cost decision you'll be asked to defend.
- Integrate with WMS/3PL, ERP, returns, reviews, WhatsApp/SMS and marketing automation via Shopify Admin and Storefront APIs and webhooks.
SEO and AEO implementation
- Implement JSON-LD (Product, CollectionPage, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList, ItemList), clean heading structure, canonical and hreflang handling.
- Build collection and blog templates that let the content team publish tables, FAQ blocks and cited copy without touching code.
Reliability
- Version control, staging themes, code review, rollback plan. No editing live theme code on a Friday evening.
- Own peak-season readiness: sale events, launch drops, traffic spikes.
Must have
- 3+ years building on Shopify, including at least one Online Store 2.0 theme built or substantially rebuilt by you.
- Strong Liquid, plus HTML, up-to-date CSS and vanilla JavaScript. You can debug a theme you didn't write.
- Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks, and at least one custom app or Shopify Function.
- Git-based workflow, Shopify CLI, and experience deploying without breaking a live store.
- Demonstrable performance work - you can talk through a specific site where you moved LCP or CLS and how.
- Comfort reading analytics and arguing from data rather than preference.
Nice to have
- D2C fashion, footwear, apparel or kids' category experience.
- Headless / Hydrogen, or a considered opinion on why headless would be wrong for a store our size.
- Shopify Plus, Shopify Markets, checkout extensibility.
- Basic design sensibility - you can implement a Figma file faithfully and flag when it won't work on a 360px screen.
- Familiarity with technical SEO for e-commerce.
Who this is not for
- Someone who only configures apps and page builders. We need code.
- Someone who needs a fully specified ticket to start. You'll get an outcome and constraints.
- Someone who wants to work exclusively on greenfield builds. A lot of this is improving a live store that is already taking orders.
What we offer
- Direct ownership of a revenue-critical surface, not a ticket queue.
- Small team, short decision path - you'll talk to founders weekly.
- Budget for tools, apps and courses that make the store faster.
Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹600,000.00 per year
Benefits
- Health insurance
- Provident Fund
