Role & responsibilities

- Responsible for safe and effective operation of EAF during the assigned shift to achieve production, quality and productivity targets.

- Plan and control heat-wise scrap charging, scrap routing and charge mix optimization as per grade and process requirements.

- Only candidates with hands-on experience in scrap routing and scrap charge mix planning for EAF operations will be considered.

- Monitor and optimize heat cycle, tap-to-tap time, power consumption, electrode consumption and metallic yield.

- Control slag practice, oxygen/carbon injection, temperature and chemical composition to achieve required steel quality.

- Coordinate with Ladle Furnace (LF), CCM, Quality and Maintenance teams for smooth heat progression and production continuity.

- Monitor furnace performance and identify process deviations, abnormalities and operational issues, taking timely corrective action.

- Ensure proper scrap sorting, grading and quality checks to minimize contamination and improve furnace efficiency.

- Drive reduction in melting cost, yield improvement and productivity enhancement through process optimization.





- Ensure strict compliance with EAF operating procedures, safety standards, PPE requirements and statutory guidelines.

- Manage shift manpower, allocate responsibilities and ensure effective team performance and discipline.

- Maintain accurate shift-wise production, consumption, process and operational records and prepare shift reports.

- Coordinate with Maintenance for timely resolution of mechanical, electrical and refractory-related issues affecting EAF operations.

- Implement 5S, TPM, Kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives in the EAF area.

Preferred candidate profile

- Diploma / B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, or relevant engineering discipline.

- Relevant experience in EAF steel melting operations, preferably in alloy/special steel manufacturing.

- Strong knowledge of EAF process control, heat cycle management, slag practice and charge mix optimization.

- Hands-on experience in scrap sorting, scrap routing and EAF scrap charge planning.

- Only candidates with proven hands-on experience in scrap routing for EAF operations are required.
