ABOUT RENEW GROUPS
[Insert a short paragraph about the company: what you do, who you serve, size of the team, and what makes the work interesting. Two to four sentences is plenty — candidates skim this and spend their time on the role itself.]
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Senior SEO Manager to own organic search end to end — technical, on-page, content and off-page. You will set the organic strategy, build the roadmap that supports it, and work alongside developers, content writers and paid media to grow qualified organic traffic and the revenue that follows it.
This is a hands-on senior role. You will be expected to run technical audits yourself, brief and review content, make the case for engineering resource, and report on performance in terms the leadership team cares about — pipeline and revenue, not just rankings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy & Planning
- Own and evolve the organic search strategy, translating business goals into a prioritised 6–12 month SEO roadmap.
- Run keyword and market research to identify commercial opportunity, topical gaps and competitor weaknesses.
- Forecast the traffic, lead and revenue impact of SEO initiatives, and use it to prioritise effort and justify investment.
- Manage the SEO budget, tool stack and any agency, freelance or vendor relationships.
Technical SEO
- Conduct regular technical audits covering crawlability, indexation, site architecture, internal linking,
canonicalisation and redirects.
- Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals, page speed, mobile usability and rendering (including JavaScript-heavy pages).
- Implement and maintain structured data / schema markup to win rich results.
- Write clear, prioritised technical tickets for the development team and see them through to release and validation.
- Lead SEO workstreams for site migrations, replatforms and major releases to protect existing rankings.
- Manage XML sitemaps, robots.txt, hreflang and log-file analysis where relevant.
On-Page & Content
- Build the content strategy around search intent, topic clusters and the customer journey.
- Produce content briefs and optimisation guidance, and review drafts before publication.
- Optimise titles, meta descriptions, headings, internal links and on-page copy across the site.
- Run a continuous programme of refreshing and consolidating existing content to protect and grow its performance.
- Partner with the content and design teams on landing pages, hub pages and conversion-focused templates.
Off-Page & Digital PR
- Own the link acquisition strategy — digital PR, partnerships, guest content, unlinked mention reclamation.
- Monitor backlink profile health and manage disavow and toxic link cleanup where required.
- Track competitor link velocity and identify realistic gaps worth closing.
Measurement & Reporting
- Build and maintain dashboards covering rankings, organic sessions, conversions, revenue and share of voice.
- Report monthly to marketing leadership on performance against targets, with transparent analysis rather than raw numbers.
- Design and run tests, and document what worked so it can be repeated.
- Track algorithm updates and SERP feature shifts, and assess their impact on the business.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential
- Experience — 5–8 years in SEO, with at least 2 years owning strategy for a site or portfolio of scale.
- Full-stack capability — genuine depth across technical, on-page and off-page SEO rather than strength in only one.
- Technical fluency — comfortable with HTML, CSS and the basics of JavaScript rendering; able to hold your own in a conversation with engineers.
- Tooling — advanced working knowledge of Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog and at least one enterprise suite (Ahrefs, Semrush, Sistrix or similar).
- Data skills — confident in spreadsheets and dashboarding (Looker Studio or equivalent); able to pull a defensible answer out of messy data.
- Track record — demonstrable results you can talk through — what you changed, why, and what it delivered.
- Communication — can explain technical recommendations to non-technical stakeholders and win buy-in for them.
- Project management — can run multiple workstreams across teams without dropping things.
