Software Development Engineer - Job Overview

We are looking for a Software Development Engineer with 4+ years of experience who can own backend systems and services across the product lifecycle.

This role focuses on building scalable APIs, distributed systems, and high-performance backend infrastructure that powers our healthcare platform.

We value engineers who can take ownership of problems, design reliable systems, and deliver production-ready solutions in a fast-paced workplace.

What You’ll Own:

Backend Systems & APIs

- Design and build scalable backend services and APIs
- Develop high-performance, reliable, and maintainable systems
- Ensure seamless integration across internal and external services

Distributed Systems & Scalability

- Build and optimize distributed systems for high availability and fault tolerance




- Implement asynchronous and event-driven architectures using queues and streams
- Design systems for observability, resilience, and graceful failure

Data & System Performance

- Work with SQL and NoSQL databases for transactional and high-scale workloads
- Optimize system performance across application, database, and infrastructure layers
- Ensure efficient data handling and system throughput

Cloud & Infrastructure

- Build and deploy services on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Work with containerization technologies such as Docker (Kubernetes is a plus)
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for production systems

Engineering Excellence

- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and improve engineering standards
- Take ownership of services from development through deployment and production

What We're Looking For:

Must Have

- 4+ years of backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python, NodeJS, or Go
- Experience building and operating production backend systems and APIs
- Solid understanding of distributed systems and system design fundamentals
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Solid debugging and problem-solving skills
- Ability to take ownership and work independently on complex problems

Nice to Have

- Experience with message brokers like Kafka or similar systems
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and event-driven systems
- Exposure to healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, or HIPAA
- Experience integrating with EHR/EMR systems or healthcare APIs
- Experience working on high-scale or data-intensive systems
