Company: CYURÆ /n Location: Gurugram, Haryana /n Work Mode: Full-time, On-site /n Experience Required: 5+ years /n Employment Type: Permanent About the Role /n We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience in designing, developing, deploying and maintaining production-grade applications. /n The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Python, FastAPI, databases, cloud infrastructure and API development , along with a good understanding of AI-enabled applications. You should be comfortable taking ownership of the complete backend lifecycle—from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring and production support. /n This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who can independently build scalable backend systems, integrate AI services, work closely with DevOps and guide junior developers.

Key Responsibilities /n /n

- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems using Python and FastAPI.

/n

- Build secure, reliable and well-documented REST APIs and asynchronous services.

/n

- Take ownership of backend architecture, database design, API contracts and system integrations.

/n

- Develop complete backend workflows from requirement understanding to production deployment.

/n

- Integrate AI models, LLM APIs, recommendation services, embeddings and third-party AI platforms into backend applications.

/n

- Build structured and reliable APIs around AI services, including validation, retries, fallbacks, rate limiting and error handling.

/n

- Work with PostgreSQL, Redis and vector databases for transactional, caching and AI-search requirements.

/n

- Design background-processing systems using queues, workers and event-driven workflows.

/n

- Optimise backend systems for performance, scalability, security and cost.

/n

- Containerise applications using Docker and support deployment on AWS.

/n

- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines in collaboration with DevOps.

/n

- Manage environment configurations, secrets, logging, monitoring and production alerts.

/n

- Troubleshoot production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

/n

- Implement authentication, authorisation, role-based access and API security controls.

/n

- Write clean, maintainable and testable code with proper unit and integration testing.

/n

- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, architecture discussions and release planning.

/n

- Mentor junior and mid-level developers and help maintain engineering standards.

/n

- Collaborate with AI, mobile, frontend, product, QA and UI/UX teams.

/n Required Qualifications /n /n

- 5+ years of professional backend development experience.

- Strong hands-on experience with Python.

/n

- Advanced experience building production APIs using FastAPI.

- Strong understanding of asynchronous programming, concurrency and background processing.

- Experience designing and developing complete backend systems for web or mobile applications.

/n

- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, API versioning, validation, authentication and documentation.

/n

- Experience with PostgreSQL, database schema design, indexing and query optimisation.

/n

- Practical experience with Redis for caching, sessions, rate limiting or background jobs.

/n

- Experience integrating AI services, LLM APIs, machine-learning models or AI-based features into applications.

/n

- Good understanding of embeddings, vector search, structured AI responses and model API integration.

/n

- Hands-on experience with Docker and containerised application deployment.

/n

- Experience deploying and managing applications on AWS or an equivalent cloud platform.

/n

- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git and GitLab or GitHub workflows.

/n

- Experience with application monitoring, logging, debugging and production support.

/n

- Good understanding of backend security, data protection and secure API development.

/n

- Ability to independently take a backend product from planning to production.

/n

- Strong problem-solving, communication and technical ownership skills.

/n

- Comfortable working full-time from the Gurugram office.

/n Preferred Qualifications /n /n

- Experience with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, ElastiCache, SQS, API Gateway and CloudWatch.

- Experience with Celery, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS or similar queue and messaging technologies.

/n

- Knowledge of WebSockets and real-time application development.

/n

- Experience working with vector databases such as pgvector, Pinecone, Qdrant, Weaviate, Milvus or OpenSearch.

/n

- Understanding of RAG pipelines, prompt orchestration and AI gateway architecture.

/n

- Experience working with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Amazon Bedrock, Hugging Face or open-source AI models.

/n

- Experience with microservices, modular monoliths or event-driven architecture.

/n

- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools.

/n

- Experience working in an early-stage startup or developing a product from zero to one.

- Previous experience mentoring developers or leading backend technical decisions.
