About Studio Underground
Studio Underground is a film and media production company empanelled with the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and multiple DIPR departments across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana.
Our work includes documentaries, advertising films, public awareness campaigns, branded content, promotional films, and large-scale communication projects for government departments, institutions, and corporate clients.
The Role
We are looking for a creative and research-driven Script Writer who can turn information, ideas, and project briefs into strong visual narratives.
The person should be comfortable researching unfamiliar subjects, understanding the purpose of a campaign or film, and presenting complex information in a simple, engaging, and audience-friendly manner.
This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys storytelling, current affairs, social issues, government initiatives, and visual media.
What You Will Do
Writing & Storytelling
- Develop scripts for documentaries, government films, awareness campaigns, TVCs, promotional films, and digital content.
- Convert creative briefs, concepts, research material, and factual information into well-structured scripts.
- Write voice-over narratives, dialogues, film treatments, and concept notes.
- Build stories with a clear beginning, progression, and strong conclusion.
- Find creative ways to communicate important messages without making the content complicated or overly technical.
Research & Information Gathering
- Research assigned subjects using reliable sources, reports, government information, and relevant references.
- Understand government schemes, policies, social initiatives, and development-related topics.
- Stay updated with current affairs and important developments relevant to ongoing projects.
- Verify facts and ensure accuracy before incorporating information into scripts.
- Identify the key message and target audience for every project.
Creative Development
- Contribute ideas for films, campaigns, documentaries, and communication projects.
- Develop fresh storytelling approaches based on the project's objective and audience.
- Work on human-interest stories, beneficiary narratives, interviews, and ground-based content when required.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute to the overall creative direction of projects.
- Work closely with Directors, Creative Directors, ADs, Editors, and the Production Team.
Editing & Revisions
- Refine scripts based on creative feedback, client inputs, and production Requirements.
- Improve language, structure, pacing, and overall narrative impact.
- Adapt scripts for different formats, durations, platforms, and audiences.
- Ensure the final script is practical for visual execution and production.
Project Handling
- Manage multiple writing assignments and priorities simultaneously.
- Deliver scripts within agreed timelines.
- Coordinate with the production team whenever additional information or clarification is required.
- Be flexible with changes in concepts, briefs, and project Requirements.
Requirements Who Can Apply
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Literature, Film Studies, or a related field is preferred.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in script writing, content writing,
creative writing, journalism, media, or similar roles.
- Candidates with strong writing portfolios and relevant practical experience may also be considered.

- Good working knowledge of English for research, references, and communication.

- Ability to write both informative and emotionally engaging narratives.
