Job Title: Programmer – New Product Development (NPD)

Department: Recent Product Development

Reporting To: NPD Manager / Head – R&D;

Experience: 2–6 years

Qualification: Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Production Engineering (CNC/CAM specialization preferred)

Job Summary The NPD Programmer is responsible for developing CNC programs and machining strategies for new die designs, prototype tooling, and product development projects in the aluminium extrusion/manufacturing process, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to design specifications.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and optimize CNC programs (using CAM software) for new dies, tools, and prototype components based on NPD drawings.
- Work closely with Design and Tool Room teams to convert 2D/3D CAD models into machining programs.
- Simulate and validate toolpaths to minimize errors, reduce cycle time, and avoid tool collisions.
- Support first-article trials and prototype validation for new products.
- Troubleshoot programming issues during trial runs and suggest design/process improvements.
- Maintain documentation of program revisions,



tooling parameters, and machining standards.
- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to ensure dimensional accuracy of new product samples.
- Continuously update programming methods based on new materials, tooling, or machine capabilities.

Required Skills

- Proficiency in CAM software (Mastercam, NX CAM, PowerMill, or similar).
- Strong understanding of CNC machining (milling, EDM, wire-cut) for die/tool manufacturing.
- Knowledge of G-code/M-code and machine-specific programming.
- Familiarity with aluminium die/extrusion tooling processes is a strong plus.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.;
- Good problem-solving and cross-functional coordination skills.

Preferred

- Prior experience in an NPD/R&D; setup within tooling, die-casting, or extrusion industries.
