We are looking for a responsible and hands-on Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day manufacturing and packing activities at our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role will be responsible for ensuring that production is carried out as per the approved plan, SOPs, GMP requirements, quality standards, and safety procedures.The ideal candidate should have robust shop-floor discipline, attention to detail, good team-handling skills, and practical experience in pharmaceutical production.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise day-to-day production and packing activities as per the production schedule.
- Ensure manufacturing activities are carried out right-first-time as per approved BMRs, SOPs, specifications, and GMP requirements.
- Allocate manpower and assign daily responsibilities to production operators and workers.
- Monitor manpower attendance, productivity, and effective utilisation of the production team.
- Ensure proper line clearance, area clearance, equipment readiness, and availability of required materials before starting production activities.
- Monitor batch manufacturing, processing, filling, packing, and related activities to ensure smooth and timely execution.
- Ensure all production activities and records are completed accurately and on time, including BMRs, logbooks, checklists, and other required documentation.
- Coordinate with QA, QC, Stores, Maintenance, and other departments to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Immediately report manufacturing deviations, breakdowns, quality issues, material shortages, or other abnormalities to the Production Manager/Plant Head.
- Assist in the investigation of production-related deviations and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure proper cleaning, sanitation, housekeeping, and hygiene standards are maintained in production areas.
- Monitor equipment performance and coordinate with the Maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance requirements.
- Ensure proper utilisation and handling of machinery, equipment, materials, and other production resources.
- Monitor production output, wastage, rejection, and process losses and report significant variations to the Production Manager.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and occupational health and safety requirements on the shop floor.
- Train and guide production workers on SOPs, GMP practices, safety procedures, and work instructions.
- Conduct routine checks of production areas, equipment, and work practices to identify and address issues.
- Support implementation of productivity, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Maintain discipline and ensure compliance with company policies within the production team.
- Prepare and submit daily/shift production reports and communicate production status, issues, and pending activities to the Production Manager.
- Ensure proper shift handover and communication of ongoing batches, machine status, deviations, and other important production information.
Job Specifications
- Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a relevant pharmaceutical/technical discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical production, preferably in OSD and/or liquid formulations.
- Strong practical knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and shop-floor operations.
- Good understanding of GMP, SOPs, BMR/BPR, documentation practices, and safety requirements.
- Experience in handling production manpower and coordinating day-to-day shop-floor activities.
- Basic understanding of equipment operation, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and meet production timelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify deviations or abnormalities during manufacturing.
- Candidates with experience in compounding, emulsions, liquid manufacturing, or OSD manufacturing will be preferred.
Qualification B. Pharm / D. Pharm / Diploma or relevant technical qualification from a recognised institution
