Job Summary

NB Entrepreneurs is looking for an experienced Procurement Engineer responsible for managing the procurement of engineering materials, mechanical components, equipment, spare parts, and other technical requirements. The candidate will be responsible for vendor development, sourcing, cost negotiation, purchase planning, and ensuring timely delivery of quality materials.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for mechanical, engineering, maintenance, and project-related materials.
- Understand technical specifications, drawings, BOQs, and material requirements before procurement.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers and vendors.
- Float RFQs, collect quotations, prepare comparative statements, and negotiate commercial terms.
- Negotiate price, payment terms, delivery schedules, quality, warranty, and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
- Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs) in accordance with approved requirements.
- Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Maintenance, Production, Stores, Quality, Finance, and other departments for procurement requirements.
- Monitor purchase orders and ensure adherence to committed delivery schedules.
- Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.
- Develop alternate sources and maintain a strong vendor database.
- Handle urgent and breakdown-related procurement requirements.
- Review technical and commercial offers and coordinate with concerned departments for technical evaluation.
- Ensure procurement is carried out within approved budgets and company policies.
- Maintain proper procurement documentation, quotation records, comparative statements, POs, and vendor correspondence.




- Support cost-reduction initiatives through alternate sourcing, negotiation, bulk procurement, and supplier development.
- Resolve issues related to material shortages, quality, delayed deliveries, and commercial discrepancies.
- Coordinate with Stores and Quality teams for material receipt, inspection, and rejection/return processes.
- Track market trends and prices for engineering materials and components.

Required Skills
- Robust knowledge of engineering and mechanical procurement.
- Good understanding of mechanical components, spares, equipment, consumables, and industrial materials.
- Strong vendor development and supplier management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and commercial evaluation skills.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Good knowledge of procurement processes, RFQ, comparative statements, PO management, and supplier follow-up.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, ERP/SAP or other procurement software.
- Ability to manage multiple procurement requirements and meet tight deadlines.

Experience & Qualification
- Minimum 4 years and maximum 10 years of relevant experience in procurement/purchase, preferably in a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or project environment.
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in procurement of mechanical equipment, spare parts, engineering materials, and industrial components will be preferred.
- Candidates with strong experience in vendor development, negotiation, and technical procurement will be given preference.
