Performance Engineer Lead

Role Overview

Looking for a senior Performance Engineer/Lead who can independently drive the performance engineering strategy for client. The role will initially focus heavily on API performance testing for API modernization initiatives, while establishing a broader enterprise performance testing approach.

Key Responsibilities

- Own performance testing strategy, planning, execution, analysis, and recommendations.
- Solid hands-on API performance testing experience using tools such as Neoload , or equivalent.
- Define workload models, SLAs/NFRs, baselines, load/stress/endurance scenarios, and performance acceptance criteria.
- Analyze bottlenecks across APIs, applications, infrastructure, databases, and downstream integrations.
- Partner with architects, development teams, vendors, and business teams to proactively identify performance risks.
- Assess performance testing performed by SaaS/product vendors and determine what additional client specific validation is required.



Reuse/extend vendor performance scripts where appropriate to validate client-specific integrations, customizations, workloads, and user journeys.

- Establish reusable performance assets, reporting, dashboards, and continuous performance testing practices.

Required Skills

- 12+ years of performance engineering/testing experience with experience leading performance initiatives.
- Strong API and integration performance testing expertise. Ability to strategize and operate independently, not just execute predefined test scripts.

- Strong troubleshooting, bottleneck analysis, monitoring, and performance-results interpretation skills.
- Experience integrating performance testing into CI/CD pipelines. Healthcare payer experience preferred.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide performance insights and recommendations to technical and program leadership.
