PD Merchandiser – Product Development

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly accountable PD Merchandiser who can own the product development process from style creation to sampling, approval and shoot readiness.

This role is not just about coordination. The PD Merchandiser will be responsible for ensuring that every style is ERP-ready, technically accurate, sampled correctly and delivered on time, with strong follow-up across Design, Sourcing, Vendors and Factories.

The ideal candidate should be someone who is comfortable working with BOMs, specification sheets, measurements, ERP data and sampling, while proactively identifying and escalating issues before they impact production or timelines.

Key Responsibilities

1. ERP Style Creation & Data Accuracy

Create and maintain complete style information in ERP.

Ensure accurate style codes, attributes and master data.

Maintain zero-error ERP entries that could impact downstream processes.

Cross-check data before releasing styles to the next stage.

2. BOM & Specification Sheet Management

Prepare detailed BOMs covering fabrics, trims and relevant costing inputs.

Create and maintain accurate specification sheets.

Ensure measurements, construction details and other technical information are complete.

Identify and resolve discrepancies before sampling/production.

3. Sampling & Approval

Coordinate the end-to-end sampling process with vendors and factories.

Track sample development, corrections and approvals.

Ensure samples remain aligned with the original design intent.

Drive minimum iterations through accurate communication and follow-up.

Ensure sampling timelines are met.

Shipment Sample Validation

Thoroughly check final shipment samples before dispatch.

Validate the product against approved specifications and requirements.

Identify potential bulk-production errors before dispatch.

Ensure issues are resolved before shipment.

5. Shoot Sample Readiness

Ensure shoot samples are ready as per the marketing calendar.

Coordinate with Design, Marketing, Sourcing, Vendors and other relevant teams.

Proactively track potential delays and ensure they do not impact shoot timelines.

6. Tracking, Reporting & Escalation

Maintain clear and updated tracking of all styles under development.

Track sampling, approvals, pending actions and timelines.

Proactively escalate delays or dependencies.

Ensure no issue remains unattended because of dependency on another team.

7. Cross-functional Ownership

Work closely with Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Vendors and Factories.

Follow up proactively rather than waiting for updates.

Take ownership of issues until closure.

Maintain high attention to detail across the product development cycle.

What We’re Looking For

Must-have:

0-2 years of experience in Product Development / Fashion Merchandising / Garment Merchandising.

Hands-on experience in BOM and specification sheets.

Experience coordinating sampling with vendors/factories.

Good understanding of garment/product development processes.

Strong follow-up and coordination skills.

High attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple styles and timelines simultaneously.

Good to have:

Experience in a fashion/D2C/garment brand environment.

Experience handling shoot samples and marketing-led timelines.

Experience working closely with design and sourcing teams.

Robust understanding of garment construction, fabrics and trims.
