Employment Type: Contract or Full time
Working time: 4:30 PM – 12:30 PM IST
Experience: 10+ Years
Role summary
Seeking a contract Oracle Enterprise Profitability and Cost Management (EPCM) Technical Specialist / EPCM Engineer to lead the technical delivery and operational support of Accounting EPCM and related legal-entity allocation capabilities.
This role will translate Accounting, Controllership, Tax, Transfer Pricing, FP&A;, and Finance Systems requirements into scalable, auditable Oracle EPCM solutions. The specialist will own or co-own the full lifecycle—from requirements clarification and allocation-model design through configuration, technical implementation, testing, reconciliation, approvals, production deployment, and post-release support.
The role is expected to contribute transformational work, allocation processes and improves alignment among Accounting actuals, forecasts, segment reporting, legal-entity reporting, and downstream planning. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable discussing allocation methodology with Finance leaders and building, troubleshooting, automating, and supporting the underlying Oracle EPM solution.
What you will do
Functional and allocation leadership
- Lead discovery and impact analysis for new and changing segment, management, transfer-pricing, accounting, and legal-entity allocations.
- Translate allocation intent into transparent source-pool, driver/basis, target, offset, rule-sequencing, and balancing requirements.
- Design and support accounting allocations across EPCM, forecast and planning models, ERP/GL integrations, and downstream reporting platforms.
- Determine whether an allocation should run for actuals, forecast, or both; distinguish GL actuals from planning-only actuals; and identify impacts to segment, SEC reporting, transfer pricing, tax, intercompany, and legal-entity forecasting.
- Articulate allocation logic across key dimensions such as account, cost center, entity/legal entity, brand, business model, location, product, intercompany, data type, currency, and scenario.
- Partner with Accounting, FP&A;, Tax, Transfer Pricing, Controllership, and Technology stakeholders to validate methodology, effective dates, assumptions, and business outcomes.
- Identify when a business requirement should be implemented as an EPCM allocation, a governed integration, a metadata change, or a downstream reporting/Planning solution.
Technical implementation and engineering
- Configure and enhance Oracle EPCM/PCMCS models, allocation rules, custom calculations, business rules, drivers, mappings, custom groupings, hierarchies, rates, formulas, and offset logic.
- Build technical designs for allocation waterfalls and chained calculations, including dependency sequencing, reciprocal intercompany entries, cost-plus calculations, residual-profit methodologies, revenue and cost reclasses, royalty/platform fees, VAT/withholding dependencies, and FX-related processing where applicable.
- Develop and maintain integrations and data pipelines between EPCM, ERP/GL, related finance systems, data platforms, and reporting solutions.
- Use EPM Automate, Data Management/Data Integration, REST APIs, Groovy, Calculation Manager, Smart View, and SQL or equivalent tools to automate data movement, rule execution, validation, diagnostics, and operational tasks.
- Manage dimensionality and metadata dependencies, including member mappings, alternate hierarchies, parent-child relationships, Data Type and Currency dimensions, substitution variables, scenario/month configuration, and setting-level settings.
- Investigate non-producing, unbalanced, duplicated, or unexpected allocation results by tracing source data, drivers, formulas, mappings, rule order, currencies, accounts, and legal-entity intersections.
Testing, controls, and release management
- Validate results at the lowest meaningful output grain and reconcile source pools, drivers, targets, offsets, reciprocal entries, account balances, legal-entity totals, and downstream reporting outputs.
- Perform end-to-end testing from source systems through EPCM and reporting;
- Participate in peer/code/configuration reviews and ensure ticket traceability for requirements, testing evidence, approvals, deployment artifacts, and post-production validation.
- Support SOX and other financial-control requirements, including segregation of duties, formal business sign-off, audit evidence, change history, and controlled production migration.
- Lead or support close-calendar and month-end close readiness, including pre-close validation and elevated support during critical Accounting and Forecast cycles.
Required qualifications and skills Oracle EPM and technical depth
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing, enhancing, or supporting Oracle EPCM with atleast 2 full life cycle implementation experience.
- Demonstrated ability to configure and troubleshoot allocation models, custom calculations, business rules, drivers, mappings, custom groupings, source pools, targets, offsets, and rule sequencing.
- Ability to investigate balancing and variance issues by tracing the complete path from source pool to driver/basis to target and offset, then reconcile the resulting balances to expected financial outcomes.
- Strong experience with at least several of the following: Groovy, EPM Automate, REST APIs, Data Management/Data Integration, Calculation Manager, Smart View, MDX, or equivalent EPM automation and diagnostics tools.
- Experience designing or supporting integrations between Oracle EPCM and ERP/GL, related finance systems, data platforms,
or reporting systems.
- Strong understanding of multidimensional modeling, chart-of-accounts structures, metadata governance, alternate hierarchies, dimensional mappings, and environment promotion practices.
- Ability to produce clear technical designs, configuration documentation, test evidence, deployment plans, rollback plans, and support runbooks.
Functional and accounting expertise
- Strong understanding of accounting allocation processes and the ability to explain how a business requirement becomes a system calculation.
- Experience with multiple allocation types, including segment allocations, management allocations, transfer-pricing allocations, legal-entity allocations, shared-cost allocations, cost-plus, revenue/cost reclassification, and intercompany allocations.
- Practical experience working with both accounting actuals and forecast/planning allocations.
- Working knowledge of source pools, drivers/bases, targets, offsets, balancing, sign conventions, reclasses, true-ups, effective dating, intercompany, FX, and reconciliation to the general ledger or reporting layer.
- Ability to assess downstream impacts across Accounting, FP&A;, Tax, Transfer Pricing, Controllership, segment reporting, SEC reporting, legal-entity reporting, and forecast processes.
Preferred or nice-to-have qualifications
- Oracle EPM Cloud certification, Oracle EPCM/PCMCS certification, or related Oracle EPM credentials.
- Experience with related Oracle EPM components, ERP/GL integrations, data-management platforms, reporting tools, or multidimensional databases.
- Experience implementing or supporting transfer pricing, tax, intercompany, residual-profit, cost-plus, royalty/platform-fee, VAT/withholding, or FX allocation logic.
- Knowledge of SOX, ITGC, ITIL incident/change management, release governance, and segregation-of-duties controls.
- Experience with performance tuning of calculation models, aggregation views, Smart View/reporting workbooks, or high-volume EPM data pipelines.
- Experience working with global legal entities, multiple currencies, local and corporate ledgers, intercompany accounting, and country-specific effective-date requirements.
