Job Role: New Relic Senior Consultant (Application Observability)

Job Type: Contract

Job Location: Remote

Hands-on senior role owning application observability across a large enterprise estate hosted on Azure. Working with platform, SRE and application teams.

Responsibilities

- Instrument services across multiple runtimes (Java, .NET, Node.js, Python) — APM, distributed tracing, logs in context, RUM
- Define and implement SLIs, SLOs and error budgets with service owners
- Build dashboards and NRQL queries; design and tune alert policies
- Route alert workflows into incident and collaboration tooling
- Own entity tagging, workload and team-ownership models
- Govern data ingest and cost — drop rules, sampling, retention
- Document standards and coach engineering teams on adoption

Requirements





- 10+ years' experience in application monitoring, observability or SRE
- Substantial hands-on New Relic delivery in a complex enterprise environment
- New Relic certification (Full-Stack Observability Practitioner or equivalent)
- Solid NRQL, alerting design, entity synthesis and the New Relic data model
- APM, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, structured logging
- Azure application and infrastructure monitoring
- Track record defining SLOs and driving adoption across engineering teams
- Able to influence other architects and engineers directly
