Job Title: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Staff Nurse Department: Critical Care Services / ICU Reports To: ICU In-Charge / Nursing Superintendent Facility Size: 100-Bed Multi-Specialty Hospital Employment Type: Full-Time (Rotational Shifts) Position Summary The ICU Nurse delivers specialized, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill patients requiring continuous hemodynamic monitoring and life-support interventions. In a 100-bed hospital setup, this role demands clinical vigilance, rapid decision-making, and seamless coordination with intensivists, consulting specialists, and support staff to manage patient-to-nurse ratios typically maintained at 1:1 to 1:2.
Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment &
- Continuous Monitoring: Perform comprehensive head-to-toe assessments; interpret real-time multi-parameter monitor data (ECG rhythm, SpO2, invasive/non-invasive blood pressure, arterial lines, and CVP). Airway &
- Ventilator Management: Maintain endotracheal/tracheostomy airways, monitor mechanical ventilator parameters, perform suctioning, and assist during emergency intubations. Medication &
- Infusion Administration: Titrate vasoactive, inotropic, sedative, and paralytic infusions using syringe/infusion pumps with strict adherence to high-alert drug safety protocols. Emergency Response: Lead initial bedside interventions during sudden decompensation, initiate BLS/ACLS resuscitation protocols, and operate defibrillators/crash cart equipment. Invasive Line &
- Wound Care: Manage central venous lines, arterial lines, dialysis catheters, chest tubes,
and surgical drains; perform aseptic dressings to prevent CLABSI and CAUTI. Documentation &
- Communication: Maintain precise electronic or physical charting of vitals, I/O (fluid balance), GCS, and nursing notes; conduct structured SBAR clinical handovers at shift changes. Patient &
- Family Advocacy: Provide compassionate updates within scope, address family concerns during designated visiting hours, and assist with palliative or end-of-life care when required.
Requirements &
Qualifications Education: GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery) or B.Sc. Nursing from an accredited institution. Licensing: Active registration with the State Nursing Council / Indian Nursing Council. Experience: Minimum 1–3 years of clinical experience in an ICU, CCU, or high-dependency unit (HDU). Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certifications preferred.

Skills &
Competencies Proficiency in operating ICU equipment (ventilators, bipap/cpap, infusion pumps, ABG analyzers, defibrillators). Competence in interpreting arterial blood gas (ABG) reports, electrolyte panels, and cardiac arrhythmias. High emotional resilience, physical stamina, and ability to prioritize under emergency conditions.
- Strong adherence to hospital infection control policies and biomedical waste management standards.
Pay: ₹10,353.19 - ₹37,572.77 per month
