: IB English Teacher

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate, experienced, and student-focused IB English Teacher to join our academic team in Bhubaneswar.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IB pedagogy, English Language & Literature, inquiry-based learning, and student-centered teaching. The teacher will be responsible for developing students' reading, writing, analytical, research, communication, and critical-thinking skills while supporting them to become confident and reflective learners.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based English lessons aligned with the IB curriculum and framework.
- Teach English Language and Literature with a strong focus on literary analysis, academic writing, communication, and critical thinking.
- Develop lesson plans, unit plans, learning resources, assignments, and assessments.
- Use formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to help students improve their academic performance.
- Develop students' research, presentation, discussion, writing, and analytical skills.
- Encourage independent thinking, creativity, reflection, and international-mindedness.
- Integrate the IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning (ATL) into classroom practice.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance,



and academic progress.
- Support students in preparing for IB assessments, examinations, projects, presentations, and coursework.
- Collaborate with other teachers and the IB Coordinator for curriculum planning and interdisciplinary learning.
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress and development.
- Participate in parent-teacher meetings, school events, clubs, enrichment activities, and academic initiatives.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
- Participate actively in professional development and IB training programmes.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English / English Literature / Education or a related field.
- B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification preferred.
- 3–6 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB, IGCSE, Cambridge, or international school.
- Robust command of written and spoken English.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of English Language & Literature.
- Ability to use inquiry-based, concept-driven, and student-centered teaching approaches.
- Good knowledge of assessment and curriculum planning.

Preferred:





- Previous experience teaching IB MYP and/or IBDP English.
- IB Category 1 or higher training/certification.
- Experience with IB assessment criteria and documentation.
- Experience teaching English Language & Literature at secondary/senior-secondary level.
- Familiarity with digital learning platforms and educational technology.
