Role Overview
We are looking for an HR Executive - Compliance & Legal Affairs to support the organization in managing labour compliance, statutory requirements, legal documentation, employee-related legal matters, and coordination with external legal consultants and advocates .
The role will involve ensuring timely compliance with applicable labour laws and regulations, maintaining statutory records, supporting legal proceedings and notices, and assisting management in HR-related legal and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities1. Legal & Employee Relations Support
- Support the organization in handling employee-related legal matters, disputes, notices, and grievances .
- Coordinate with external advocates and legal consultants on ongoing legal matters.
- Assist in preparing responses, documents, statements, and supporting records required for legal cases.
- Maintain proper records of legal notices, cases, correspondence, and related documentation.
- Support the HR team in matters related to disciplinary action, misconduct, termination, domestic enquiry, and employee grievances .
1. Labour Law & Statutory Compliance
- Monitor compliance with applicable labour laws, employment regulations, and statutory requirements .
- Maintain compliance records, registers, returns, licences, notices, and other statutory documentation.
- Track statutory filing and renewal deadlines and ensure timely completion.
- Support compliance requirements applicable to project sites, contractors, and workmen .
- Assist in ensuring compliance under applicable laws relating to wages, working conditions, employee benefits, and labour welfare.
1. Compliance Audit & Documentation
- Prepare and maintain compliance checklists, trackers, and audit documentation .
- Support internal and external compliance audits by arranging required records and documents.
- Identify compliance gaps and coordinate with concerned departments for corrective action.
- Maintain proper documentation to ensure audit readiness across corporate and project locations.
1. Contract & Legal Documentation
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and maintaining basic agreements, contracts, MoUs, NDAs, undertaking letters, notices, and other legal documents .
- Coordinate with internal departments and external legal consultants for document review and execution.
- Track contract validity, renewal dates, amendments, and related approvals.
- Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of legal and contractual documents.
1. Legal Research & Regulatory Updates
- Conduct research on applicable Indian labour laws, employment laws, corporate laws, and other regulations relevant to the organization .
- Track important amendments, notifications, and regulatory changes.
- Prepare brief summaries of relevant legal and compliance updates for management and HR reference.
- Support the team in understanding and implementing new statutory requirements.
1. Site & Project Compliance Support
- Coordinate with project/site HR and administration teams regarding statutory and labour compliance requirements.
- Verify availability and maintenance of required labour-related records and documentation at project sites.
- Support compliance related to contractors, manpower agencies, workmen, and other third-party personnel.
- Assist during labour inspections, statutory inspections, and compliance audits whenever required.
1. HR Policy & Governance Support
- Assist in drafting and updating HR policies, SOPs, disciplinary procedures, employee declarations, and compliance-related documents .
- Ensure HR processes are aligned with applicable legal and statutory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee, legal, and organizational information.
Qualifications
- LLB / Bachelor of Laws from a recognized university.
- 1–4 years of experience in HR Legal, Labour Law, Compliance, Employee Relations, or Corporate Legal functions .
- Candidates with experience in the construction, infrastructure, EPC, power transmission, or similar industry will be preferred.
- LLM, Diploma/Certification in Labour Laws, HR Compliance, or Corporate Law will be an added advantage.
- Bar Council enrollment is an advantage but not mandatory.
Preferred Experience Candidates with exposure to any of the following will be preferred:
- Labour law and statutory compliance
- Employee relations and disciplinary matters
- Legal notices and case documentation
- Coordination with advocates and external legal consultants
- Contract and agreement documentation
- Labour inspections and statutory audits
- Contractor and workmen compliance
- Legal research and regulatory updates
- HR policy and SOP drafting
Skills & Competencies
- Good knowledge of Indian Labour Laws and employment-related regulations .
- Basic understanding of the Contract Act, Companies Act, and other applicable commercial/corporate laws .
- Strong documentation and record-management skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and legal accuracy.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with advocates, consultants, employees, site teams, and management.
- Strong confidentiality and professional integrity.
- Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel .
- Ability to independently track compliance deadlines and follow up with stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
