About Us

Raghu University is a newly formed Deemed to Be University in Visakhapatnam, founded by an entrepreneur who also built a 300-person enterprise SaaS company serving McDonald’s, Pepsi, and Metro Brands across 12 countries.

The Deep-Tech Foundry is our maker-meets-AI space where students build real products — full-stack applications, AI-powered tools, hardware prototypes, and startup MVPs. We’re assembling a 5-person team to run it. This is the technical anchor of that team.

The Role The Hacker-in-Residence is the person students come to when they’re stuck. Your React component won’t render? They’ll pair with you. Your API is returning 500s? They’ll debug it with you. Your model is trained but you don’t know how to serve it? They’ll show you FastAPI + deployment.

This person does not work on their own projects. Their entire output is measured by what STUDENTS ship. Every line of code they write goes into a student’s repo, not their own. They succeed when 20 student teams have working products.

This is not a teaching role. No lectures, no exams, no syllabus. You sit in The Foundry, and when a student is stuck, you unblock them. When a team’s architecture is wrong, you fix it with them. When someone needs to go from “it works on my laptop” to “it’s deployed and a user can access it” — that’s you.

What You’ll Do

- Pair-program with student teams daily — frontend, backend, database, APIs, deployment. Wherever they’re stuck.
- Help teams build full-stack applications end-to-end: React/Next.js frontends, Node/Python backends, PostgreSQL/MongoDB databases, REST/GraphQL APIs, cloud deployment
- Guide teams on architecture decisions: monolith vs microservices, database design,



auth flows, state management, caching
- Help teams integrate AI into real applications — not just training models, but serving them: FastAPI endpoints, Gradio demos, chatbot UIs, WhatsApp bot integrations
- Support LLM fine-tuning when needed — QLoRA, Hugging Face, deployment via Ollama/vLLM. This is one skill, not the whole job.
- Maintain the GPU server and dev infrastructure — Ubuntu, Docker, JupyterHub, CUDA stack, monitoring
- Run a weekly standup with all active teams: “What did you ship? What’s blocking you?”
- Run monthly Mini Demo Days: teams present working products, not slide decks
- Set up development best practices: Git workflows, code review culture, CI/CD basics, environment management

What You Won’t Do

- Work on your own projects — your output is your students’ output
- Teach lectures or tutorials
- Set or grade exams
- Attend academic committee meetings
- Manage budgets or write reports
- Report to any academic department

Who You Are

- You’ve built and shipped full-stack applications — not just backends, not just frontends, the whole thing
- You’re strong in at least one modern stack: React/Next.js + Node/Python + PostgreSQL/MongoDB. Comfortable picking up the rest.
- You can deploy an app to production: AWS/GCP/Vercel/Railway — you’ve done it, not just read about it
- You’re comfortable with Docker, Git, Linux, and basic DevOps




- You’ve worked with AI/ML at an integration level — calling model APIs, serving models behind endpoints, building AI-powered features into apps. Fine-tuning experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
- You’re patient enough to sit with a frustrated 19-year-old debugging a CORS error for 20 minutes
- You get satisfaction from someone else’s “it works!” moment, not from your own commits
- 2–6 years of experience building real products

Nice to Have

- Experience at a startup where you wore multiple hats (frontend + backend + deployment + talking to users)
- LLM fine-tuning experience (Hugging Face, QLoRA, PEFT) — useful for the 6-models-in-6-months programme
- NVIDIA GPU stack experience (CUDA, Jetson)
- Open-source contributions
- Experience mentoring — bootcamp TA, workshop instructor, senior dev who onboarded juniors
- Mobile development (React Native / Flutter) — some student teams will build mobile apps
