We are setting up a current Lighthouse Centre and are looking for a Facilitator & Counselor who can create a safe, engaging, and supportive space where young people can understand themselves, build confidence, explore possibilities, and make informed decisions about their future.

This role goes beyond conducting classes.

You'll facilitate learning, build meaningful relationships, listen to young people, understand their aspirations, guide their career choices, and help them take ownership of their journey.

As a Facilitator & Counselor, you'll work closely with young people as they begin their Lighthouse journey.

You'll help them move from:

“I don't know what I want to do.”

to

“I understand myself, I know my options, and I can make a decision.”

Your work will combine group facilitation, career exploration, counselling, mentorship, assessment, and youth engagement.

What You Will Do

Facilitate the Foundation Course

- Conduct the Foundation Course for newly enrolled students.
- Facilitate engaging sessions focused on self-awareness, life skills, career exploration, personal development, and employability.
- Create an environment where students feel safe to participate, ask questions, and express themselves.
- Adapt your facilitation style to different learning needs and personalities.
- Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and development.

Help Young People Discover Their Direction Career decisions can feel overwhelming, especially when young people have limited exposure to different opportunities.

You will:

- Conduct career and counselling assessments.
- Help students understand their aptitude, interests, personality, strengths, and career preferences.
- Conduct one-on-one counselling sessions.
- Help students explore career and skilling options aligned with their aspirations and strengths.




- Support students in making informed career decisions rather than simply making decisions for them.

Build Meaningful 1:1 Relationships Sometimes the most important part of the job is simply listening.

You will:

- Build trusting relationships with students.
- Understand their aspirations, concerns, and barriers.
- Provide appropriate guidance and support.
- Identify students who may need additional attention or intervention.
- Encourage students to reflect, make choices, and take ownership of their future.

Understand Progress Through Assessments

- Support students through relevant assessments.
- Compare assessment insights with observations and counselling conversations.
- Identify gaps or areas requiring additional support.
- Document key insights and follow up appropriately.
- Use what you learn about students to strengthen their learning and career journey.

You will:

- Help create a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and youth-friendly environment.
- Model positive behaviours and Lighthouse values.
- Encourage a culture of participation, respect, curiosity, and learning.
- Contribute ideas to improve student engagement and program delivery.
- Work closely with the Centre Head and other team members to establish strong centre practices.

Work as Part of the Centre Team

- Collaborate with the Centre Head and other team members.
- Support centre activities and initiatives as required.
- Share observations and insights about learner needs.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Step in wherever your support can improve the learner experience.

Who Are We Looking For?

Education

- BA/MA in Psychology, Counselling, Training, or a related discipline.
- Postgraduates from other disciplines with relevant counselling, facilitation, or youth-development experience are also encouraged to apply.

Experience

- 1–2 years of experience in counselling, facilitation, youth engagement, training, education, or a related field.
- Experience working with adolescents or young adults is an advantage.

- Ability to facilitate groups of approximately 25–30 students.
- Ability to create an inclusive and participatory learning environment.
- Strong observation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate documentation and student records.

Language Skills

Strong communication skills in:

- Telugu
- Hindi
- English
