Help Young People Find Their Voice. Build Their Agency. Shape Their Future.

At 15–18, young people are standing at an important crossroads.

They are navigating academics, friendships, family expectations, identity, emotions, and big questions about their future — often all at once.

Lighthouse Kiran is designed to walk alongside them during this journey.

We are looking for a Facilitator & Counsellor who can create a safe, trusting, and energising environment where adolescents can understand themselves, build confidence, develop social and emotional skills, and make informed decisions about their education and careers.

If you believe that sometimes the most powerful thing we can give a young person is not an answer, but the confidence to find their own answer, this role is for you.

About Lighthouse Kiran

Lighthouse Kiran is a Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program for young people aged 15–18.

The program supports adolescents as they navigate the changing demands of academic and social life and learn to manage new and often intense emotions.

Our goal is to create spaces where young people:

- Feel safe, heard, and valued.
- Develop social and emotional competencies.
- Build confidence and agency.
- Become more capable of making informed life decisions.
- Strengthen their connection with education.
- Develop clarity around their future and livelihood pathways.
- Stay engaged in their learning journey and reduce the risk of dropping out.

At the heart of the program is a simple belief: Young people don't need to be told what their future should look like. They need the skills, confidence, and support to shape it themselves.

About the Role

As a Facilitator & Counsellor, you will be one of the most important adults in the learning journey of the young people we work with.

You will facilitate Lighthouse Kiran in colleges or designated Lighthouse Connect Centres across PCMC and build meaningful relationships with adolescents that support their emotional, social, educational, and career development.

Your role will go beyond conducting sessions.

You will create conversations, ask the right questions, notice when a young person needs support, encourage self-reflection, and help students discover their own strengths and possibilities.

What You Will Do

Facilitate. Engage. Transform.

- Facilitate the Lighthouse Kiran program for recent batches of students.
- Conduct engaging sessions on social-emotional learning, life skills, soft skills, self-awareness, and personal development.
- Facilitate batches of approximately 25–30 students.
- Create an inclusive and safe learning environment where every student feels comfortable participating.
- Ensure students complete the program as designed and maintain strong attendance.

Be a Trusted Guide

- Build authentic and meaningful relationships with adolescents.
- Provide appropriate counselling and guidance based on individual student needs.
- Support students in exploring their interests, strengths, aspirations, and career possibilities.
- Help young people develop the confidence to make informed decisions about their education and careers.
- Recognise when a student may need additional support and work with the wider team appropriately.

Build Agency, Not Dependence The goal isn't to make decisions for young people — it's to help them become better decision-makers.

You will:

- Encourage self-reflection and independent thinking.
- Help students recognise their strengths and areas for growth.
- Support them in taking ownership of their learning and future.
- Use facilitation as a tool for self-transformation rather than simply delivering content.

Bring Learning Beyond the Classroom

- Ensure students actively use the Social and Emotional Learning Chatbot as part of their learning journey.
- Encourage students to practise and apply social-emotional skills beyond the sessions.

Measure the Journey

- Conduct baseline and endline assessments with students.
- Track changes in key competencies and use insights to strengthen facilitation.
- Maintain accurate program and student records.

Be Part of the Larger Team

- Collaborate with other team members to support students and program outcomes.
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and youth-centred culture.
- Take on additional responsibilities when required to strengthen the overall program.

Who Are We Looking For? We are looking for someone who can combine empathy with facilitation, counselling with action,

and structure with creativity.

Education & Experience

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Psychology, Counselling, Training, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in any discipline may also be considered.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience, preferably in counselling, youth development, facilitation, life skills, or career guidance.

You Should Be Able To

- Facilitate engaging sessions for groups of 25–30 young people.
- Build trust and rapport with adolescents.
- Provide empathetic and appropriate counselling.
- Conduct career counselling and help young people explore future pathways.
- Facilitate life skills, soft skills, and social-emotional learning sessions.
- Communicate comfortably in Marathi/local language, Hindi, and English.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Travel across PCMC as required.

You'll Thrive in This Role If...

You are someone who:

- Genuinely enjoys working with young people.
- Listens before giving advice.
- Can turn a classroom into a space for honest conversations.
- Is patient, empathetic, and non-judgmental.
- Believes every young person has potential.
- Can balance warmth with accountability.
- Is comfortable facilitating conversations around emotions, identity, relationships, education, and careers.
- Wants to see transformation, not just program completion.
- Is willing to learn, experiment, reflect, and grow alongside the young people you work with.

Why Join Lighthouse Kiran? Because you won't just be conducting sessions.

You'll be part of someone's turning point.

A conversation that builds confidence.

A question that changes perspective.

A skill that helps a student navigate a difficult situation.

A moment of clarity that influences a career decision.

These small moments can shape much bigger futures.

If you are passionate about youth development, counselling, social-emotional learning, and creating opportunities for young people, we would love to hear from you.
