Reporting To: NPD Manager / Head – R&D;

Experience: 2–6 years

Qualification: Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical / Tool & Die / Production Engineering (CAD specialization preferred)

Job Summary The Designer in the NPD department is responsible for designing dies, tools, and prototype components for recent aluminium products, translating customer requirements and product specifications into accurate, manufacturable CAD designs.

Key Responsibilities

- Design new dies, tools, and fixtures for aluminium extrusion/product development using CAD software.
- Prepare 2D drawings and 3D models for new products based on customer specifications and profile requirements.
- Collaborate with Programmers, Tool Room, and Production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and machining-friendly.
- Conduct design reviews and modifications based on trial results and customer feedback.
- Maintain design documentation, revision history, and drawing standards (GD&T; compliance).




- Support die correction and modification designs based on first-article trial outcomes.
- Coordinate with Quality team to ensure designs meet dimensional and tolerance requirements.
- Stay updated on new profile designs, materials, and industry design standards.

Required Skills

- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, NX, or similar).
- Strong understanding of die design principles for aluminium extrusion.
- Knowledge of GD&T;, drafting standards, and tolerance stack-up.
- Ability to interpret customer drawings/specifications and convert into design outputs.
- Good coordination skills with programming, tooling, and quality teams.

Preferred

- Prior experience in an NPD/R&D; setup within extrusion, die-casting, or tooling industries.
- Exposure to profile/die correction and prototype design.
