Position OverviewFuture Interns is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to assist with assigned security-related projects during the September 2026 internship cycle.

The position is intended for candidates with a foundational understanding of cybersecurity who are interested in areas such as vulnerability assessment, network security, security documentation, and defensive security practices.

All security-related activities are expected to be performed only on authorized systems, environments, and resources.

Responsibilities

- Assist with basic vulnerability assessment activities on authorized environments.
- Support security testing under appropriate guidance.
- Review basic network and system configurations for potential security concerns.
- Use tools such as Nmap, Wireshark, or Burp Suite when appropriate to assigned tasks.
- Record observations and organize assessment findings.
- Assist with preparing technical security documentation.
- Research common security vulnerabilities and recommended defensive practices.




- Support monitoring and review activities assigned by the project team.
- Communicate identified issues and questions clearly.
- Follow security, privacy, and access-control requirements throughout assigned work.

Required Skills
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Familiarity with networking concepts such as IP addresses, ports, protocols, and DNS.
- Basic understanding of common security risks.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document technical observations clearly.
- Responsible approach to handling information and assigned systems.

Preferred Background
- Familiarity with Linux.
- Exposure to Nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite, or similar tools.
- Coursework or personal projects related to cybersecurity.
- Basic understanding of OWASP concepts.
- Familiarity with security documentation.
