Position Title: Boiler Operator (Thermic Fluid Heater Operator)

Job Summary

We are seeking a diligent, safety-conscious Thermic Boiler Operator to manage and operate our Thermic Fluid Heater unit at our ginger and turmeric processing plant in Shillong, Meghalaya. In this facility, the thermic boiler is the core of the drying line, supplying precise, high-uniform heat to continuous multi-tier dryers.

Your primary responsibility will be to ensure uninterrupted, safe, and efficient heat generation. You will work directly on the shop floor—monitoring oil temperatures, pressure lines, circulation pumps, and fuel feeding—while coordinating closely with the Assistant Plant Manager to align heat outputs with daily production speeds.

Key Responsibilities

1. Daily Operation & Temperature Control

- Safely ignite, operate, and shut down the thermic fluid heater system according to strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and maintain precise thermic fluid outlet temperatures required by the drying lines to protect the active curcumin and gingerol compounds in the crops.
- Track critical operating parameters hourly, including thermic oil expansion tank levels, circulation pump pressure differentials, stack temperatures, and fuel-to-air ratios.
- Maintain a neat, manual logbook documenting temperatures, pressures, fuel consumption, and any system anomalies during the shift.

2. Preventive Maintenance & Safety Inspections

- Perform daily pre-start safety checks on expansion tanks, deaerator tanks, fuel feeding systems,



and air blowers (FD/ID fans).
- Monitor the health of thermic fluid circulation pumps, ensuring mechanical seals and bearings are properly lubricated and running without abnormal vibration or noise.
- Conduct regular visual checks across the boiler section for any thermic oil or fuel leaks, pipeline insulation damage, or structural wear.
- Assist the Assistant Plant Manager during scheduled maintenance shutdowns by cleaning ash/soot buildup from the heater coils, checking fire bricks, and replacing faulty gaskets.

3. Utility & Fuel Management

- Manage the daily inventory of boiler fuel at the unit and ensure a dry, continuous fuel feed to the furnace.
- Keep the boiler area, fuel storage zone, and ash handling stations exceptionally clean to comply with food-grade factory hygiene standards.
- Cooperate fully during statutory inspector visits, hydro-tests, and mandatory safety audits.

Required Qualifications & Experience

- Education: ITI Certificate in Boiler Attendant trade or a high school pass with equivalent formal technical training.
- Certification: Valid 1st Class or 2nd Class Boiler Attendant / Competency Certificate issued by the State Boiler Directorate is mandatory.
- Experience: 3–6 years of reliable experience operating industrial Thermic Fluid Heaters (Thermic Boilers). Experience in food processing, spice drying, or agricultural processing plants is highly preferred.
- Technical Competence: Clear practical understanding of thermic fluid flashpoints, circulation dynamics, pump mechanics, and basic burner/furnace controls. Must know how to act instantly during an emergency shutdown or sudden power failure.
