Role Description The Automotive CTO – EV Commercial Vehicle will lead the technical strategy, product roadmap, and engineering execution for electric commercial vehicle programs at Prowiden Overseas’ client organizations. This full-time, in office role in Bengaluru involves overseeing vehicle architecture, powertrain and battery systems, and integration of software, electronics, and connectivity solutions. The CTO will coordinate cross-functional engineering teams, manage supplier and technology partnerships, and ensure that product development aligns with performance, safety, regulatory, and sustainability requirements.
Day-to-day responsibilities include mentoring technical leaders, reviewing design and validation plans, driving innovation in EV platforms, and collaborating with business and operations teams to support commercialization, cost optimization, and scalability. The role also involves representing the technical function in customer meetings, industry forums, and strategic planning discussions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or related field.
- 12–20 years of automotive engineering experience.
- Strong experience in electric vehicles.
- Experience with complete vehicle development.
- Strong understanding of vehicle architecture.
- Experience with EV powertrain systems.
- Experience with battery/BMS systems.
- Experience with chassis, suspension, steering and braking.
- Experience with prototype development.
- Experience with vehicle testing and validation.
- Experience working with automotive suppliers.
- Strong understanding of automotive regulations and homologation.
- Experience taking a product toward production.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Architecture
- Define the complete vehicle architecture.
- Establish vehicle dimensions, weight targets and packaging.
- Define chassis/frame architecture.
- Define suspension, steering and braking architecture.
- Define powertrain architecture.
- Define battery location and packaging.
- Define cargo-box architecture and payload requirements.
- Define electrical and electronic architecture.
- Ensure the vehicle meets performance, cost and regulatory requirements.
2. EV Powertrain
Lead the development and selection of:
- Electric motor
- Motor controller/inverter
- Differential/e-axle
- Reduction gearbox
- Battery pack
- BMS
- On-board charger
- DC-DC converter
- Charging system
- Thermal management
Evaluate suppliers and select components based on:
- Cost
- Reliability
- Performance
- Efficiency
- Serviceability
- Availability
- Certification requirements
- Production scalability
3. Battery & Electrical Systems
Work closely with the electrical/BMS engineering team to establish:
- Battery voltage and capacity
- Cell chemistry
- BMS architecture
- HV/LV architecture
- Wiring harness
- Fuses and protection
- Charging architecture
- CAN communication
- Electrical safety
- Battery thermal management
- Water/dust protection
- Battery serviceability
4. Mechanical Engineering
Supervise development of
- Chassis
- Suspension
- Steering
- Brakes
- Wheels and tyres
- Body structure
- Cargo box
- Doors
- Driver cabin
- Seating
- Mounting systems
- Safety structures
Ensure the vehicle achieves appropriate durability, stability and reliability targets.
5. Vehicle Performance
Establish and validate targets for:

- Energy consumption

6. Prototype Development
Lead the complete prototype program.
