Job Objective To support the Medical Superintendent in ensuring smooth clinical and hospital operations, effective patient care, timely discharge processes, coordination between clinical and non-clinical departments, patient satisfaction, quality compliance and adherence to hospital policies and protocols.
Job Responsibilities
Discharge Management
- Monitor the complete IPD discharge process from initiation of discharge advice to final patient exit.
- Ensure timely preparation and completion of discharge summaries by treating consultants/clinical teams.
- Coordinate with Nursing, Pharmacy, Billing, TPA/Insurance, Medical Records and other concerned departments for smooth discharge.
- Monitor discharge TAT and identify bottlenecks causing delays.
- Ensure discharge prescriptions, investigation reports, follow-up advice and patient instructions are completed before discharge.
- Coordinate for timely clearance of pending clinical, billing, pharmacy and documentation requirements.
- Review and resolve escalated discharge-related issues raised by patients and attendants.
- Monitor planned and unplanned discharge processes and ensure adherence to hospital SOPs.
- Track delayed discharges and prepare MIS for review by hospital management.
Medical Administration
- Support implementation of hospital policies, SOPs and clinical protocols.
- Coordinate medical staff rosters, duty schedules and manpower requirements.
- Monitor availability and deployment of medical staff as per operational requirements.
- Facilitate coordination between consultants, RMOs, nursing and clinical departments.
Patient Experience &
- Grievance Management
- Address escalated patient and attendant concerns related to clinical services and hospital processes.
- Ensure timely resolution of patient complaints and coordinate with concerned departments.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, attendants and clinical teams.
Quality &
- Patient Safety
- Ensure compliance with patient safety practices, clinical protocols and quality standards.
- Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives and corrective/preventive actions.
- Support NABH and other accreditation requirements.
- Monitor incident reporting and ensure appropriate follow-up and closure.
Emergency &
- Critical Situations
- Coordinate with clinical teams during medical emergencies and critical situations.
- Ensure appropriate escalation and communication during emergencies.
- Support emergency preparedness and disaster management activities.
MIS &
- Performance Monitoring
- Review clinical and operational MIS, including admission, discharge, discharge TAT, bed occupancy and patient-related KPIs.
- Identify process gaps and coordinate corrective actions.
- Prepare periodic reports and updates for the Medical Superintendent / Hospital Management.
Qualification &
- Experience
- MBBS/ BDS from a recognized institution.
- MBA/MHA/PG Diploma in Hospital Administration will be preferred.
- 310 years of relevant experience in hospital/medical administration, preferably in a multispecialty hospital.
Experience in IPD operations, discharge management, clinical coordination and NABH/quality processes will be preferred.
