Poly Plast is a 58+ year old conglomerate in the composites industry with modern manufacturing facilities across three owned locations covering over 60,000 m (20,000 m covered). We manufacture GRP/FRP chemical equipment, pipes & fittings, scrubbing systems, blowers, FGD systems, fluoropolymer lining & coatings, FRP rods, water-swellable tapes for telecommunications, FRP rebar for construction, and related engineered products. Poly Plast is IMS certified and an approved PP welding facility (DVS GmbH).

Our products are manufactured to international standards including ASTM, AWWA, BS, EN, ASME, ISO, and DIN and we have executed technically challenging projects in India and overseas.

Role purpose The Estimation Engineer is responsible for preparing comprehensive cost estimates, tenders, and technical-commercial proposals for FRP/GRP equipment, piping, tanks, vessels and associated systems. The role bridges engineering understanding with commercial estimation and production ensuring proposals are technically sound, cost-competitive, manufacturable, and compliant with applicable standards.

Key responsibilities

Estimation & Tendering

- Prepare detailed Bill of Materials (BOM), material take-offs, labour estimates, and cost build-ups for tenders and RFQs.
- Carry out rate analysis for raw materials (resins, glass reinforcements, liners), accessories, consumables, and subcontracted items.
- Prepare priced quotations, commercial clarifications, and technical proposals in coordination with Sales and Commercial teams.
- Review client specifications, drawings, and tender documents to identify scope, materials, and applicable standards.
- Identify value engineering opportunities and propose cost-optimised technical alternatives without compromising performance or compliance.

Standards, Compliance & Documentation





- Ensure all estimations and proposals comply with applicable international and Indian standards (e.g., ISO 14692, EN 13121, ASME, ASTM, AWWA, DIN, IS 2062), client specifications, and statutory requirements.
- Maintain estimation sheets, costing templates, datasheets, and historical pricing databases.
- Support QA/QC and Production teams with technical clarifications related to estimated scope.

Coordination & Project Support

- Liaise with Production, QA, Procurement, and Site teams to ensure manufacturability, lead-time feasibility, and accurate costing.
- Provide technical and commercial clarifications during the tender stage and respond to client queries.
- Support project execution teams during pre-order meetings and handover of cost data.

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing

- Contribute to standardization of estimation templates, costing libraries, and process improvement initiatives.
- Keep abreast of industry developments in resin systems, reinforcement technologies, fabrication techniques, and material pricing trends.
- Mentor junior engineers and assist in technical training programs.

Technical competencies & skills

- Strong experience in estimation and costing for FRP/GRP products such as tanks, vessels, scrubbers, piping, and ducting systems.
- Understanding of FRP/GRP manufacturing processes: hand lay-up, filament winding, pultrusion, etc.
- Knowledge of laminate composition, reinforcement types,



and resin systems for chemical resistance.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and specifications (ISO 14692, EN 13121, ASTM, AWWA, DIN, IS 2062).
- Proficient with MS Excel for cost estimation and analysis; ERP or estimation software experience preferred.
- Strong commercial acumen with ability to interpret technical documents.

Qualifications & experience

- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical / Chemical / Plastics / Polymer Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience: 2-5 years in estimation for FRP/GRP equipment, piping, or pressure vessels.
- Candidates with strong GRP project and tendering background preferred.
- Prior exposure to international standards and multinational project tenders is desirable.

- Good written and verbal communication able to prepare clear technical-commercial proposals and interact with clients & internal stakeholders.
- Team player with ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tenders simultaneously.

KPIs / Success measures

- Accuracy of estimates (variance between estimated and actual project costs).
- Number of technically compliant and competitive bids submitted on time.
- Rework or RFIs due to estimation errors (aim: low).
- Time taken to produce full estimation package for tender (lead-time reduction targets).

Working conditions & travel

- Office-based work and coordination with manufacturing facilities and very rarely travel to client/site locations (domestic and occasional international travel depending on project requirements).
