Experience: 3–6 Years

Location: [Your Location]

Employment Type: Full-Time

Industry: Medical Devices / Healthcare Technology

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on BLE & Android Engineer to develop Android software for connecting our patient monitors and medical devices through Bluetooth/BLE.

The engineer will be responsible for establishing reliable Bluetooth communication with medical devices, receiving and decoding real-time patient data and waveforms, processing the data in an Android gateway application, and transmitting it securely to our remote monitoring/cloud platform.

This is a hardware-connected development role, not a general Android application-development position.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop Android applications using Kotlin/Java.
- Integrate patient monitors and medical devices using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Work with BLE GATT services, characteristics, UUIDs, notifications and indications.
- Discover and analyze BLE communication protocols.
- Receive and decode data packets from medical devices.
- Handle real-time physiological parameters such as:
- ECG
- Heart Rate
- SpO₂
- NIBP
- Temperature
- Respiration
- Other monitor parameters
- Handle real-time ECG/physiological waveform data where supported.
- Implement Bluetooth pairing, connection, disconnection and automatic reconnection.
- Handle BLE MTU, packet fragmentation, buffering and data integrity.
- Develop reliable background Bluetooth services.
- Ensure continuous data acquisition even when the Android application is not in the foreground.
- Detect device/sensor disconnection and communication errors.
- Store data locally when the internet connection is unavailable and synchronize it when connectivity returns.
- Send received medical-device data to cloud/backend systems using REST API, MQTT and/or WebSockets.
- Implement secure communication using HTTPS/TLS and appropriate authentication.
- Debug Bluetooth communication using tools such as nRF Connect,

Android Bluetooth HCI logs, protocol analyzers, etc.
- Work closely with hardware, firmware, cloud and medical-device R&D; teams.
- Prepare technical documentation for Bluetooth protocols, APIs and software architecture.

Required Skills

Must Have:

- 3–6 years of strong Android development experience.
- Excellent Kotlin/Java skills.
- Strong hands-on experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
- Practical knowledge of:
- BLE GATT
- Services
- Characteristics
- UUID
- Read/Write
- Notify/Indicate
- MTU
- Pairing/Bonding
- Experience integrating Android applications with real BLE hardware.
- Ability to understand and decode proprietary BLE data packets.
- Experience with Android background services and Bluetooth reconnection.
- Good understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS and REST APIs.
- Experience with JSON/XML and data serialization.
- Git/version control.

Strongly Preferred

Experience with

- Medical devices
- Patient monitors
- ECG machines
- SpO₂/pulse oximeters
- NIBP devices
- Wearable medical devices
- Remote Patient Monitoring
- IoT devices
- Real-time waveform/data streaming
- MQTT
- WebSockets
- AWS/Azure/GCP
- SQLite/Room
- Android foreground/background services
- Bluetooth Classic in addition to BLE

Medical Device Experience

Candidates who have previously worked with medical devices or healthcare IoT products will be given preference.

The candidate should demonstrate that they can:

- Discover the BLE device.
- Identify GATT services and characteristics.
- Establish a reliable connection.
- Subscribe to notifications.
- Receive raw packets.
- Decode the data correctly.
- Display real-time values.
- Handle disconnection/reconnection.
- Send data to a backend server.

Candidates must have hands-on experience integrating BLE with Android and working with real hardware devices. Candidates whose experience is limited to normal Android application development without BLE hardware integration will not be considered. Experience with medical devices, IoT devices, wearables or healthcare technology is strongly preferred.

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
