To manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate and timely accounting entries, support statutory compliance, reconciliations, vendor payments, budgeting, and assist in the preparation of financial and management reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounting & Bookkeeping
- Record day-to-day accounting transactions in Tally.
- Prepare and post journal entries, payment entries, receipt entries, purchase and sales entries.
- Maintain accurate books of accounts and supporting documentation.
- Ensure proper ledger classification and accounting treatment.
- Review and reconcile subsidiary ledgers with the general ledger.
2. Accounts Payable & Vendor Management
- Verify vendor invoices with supporting documents and approvals.
- Check GST, TDS and other applicable statutory requirements on invoices.
- Prepare vendor payment statements and payment proposals.
- Reconcile vendor accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments.
3. Accounts Receivable & Collections
- Record and reconcile customer/student receipts.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and prepare ageing reports.
- Follow up with concerned teams for collection-related issues.
- Perform customer/student ledger reconciliations.
4. Bank & Ledger Reconciliation
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
- Identify and resolve unreconciled transactions.
- Perform inter-company and inter-unit reconciliations.
- Reconcile major balance sheet and income statement ledgers.
5. GST & TDS Compliance Support
- Assist in GST reconciliation and return preparation.
- Verify input tax credit and reconcile purchase data with GST records.
- Assist with TDS calculations, deductions and reconciliations.
- Support preparation of TDS returns such as 24Q and 26Q.
- Ensure proper accounting of RCM transactions wherever applicable.
6. Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Assist in preparation of annual budgets.
- Collect and consolidate budget requirements from different departments/cost centres.
- Track actual expenditure against approved budgets.
- Prepare budget vs. actual variance reports.
- Highlight significant variances and support the Finance Manager in analysing the reasons.
- Assist in preparing periodic forecasts and financial projections.
7. Month-End & Year-End Closing
- Assist in monthly closing activities.
- Prepare provisions, accruals and adjustment entries.
- Ensure all income and expenses are accounted for in the correct period.
- Support year-end closing and finalisation of accounts.
8. MIS & Reporting
- Prepare regular MIS reports as required by management.
- Prepare ageing reports, expense reports, budget vs. actual reports and reconciliation statements.
- Provide accounting data and analysis to the Finance Manager.
- Support budgeting,
forecasting and variance analysis.
9. Audit & Statutory Requirements
- Provide required documents and schedules for statutory, internal and tax audits.
- Coordinate with auditors for routine information and clarifications.
- Maintain proper documentation and audit trails.
- Assist in resolving audit observations.
10. Documentation & Internal Controls
- Maintain proper accounting records and supporting documents.
- Follow established finance policies and approval processes.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting procedures.
- Identify discrepancies and report them to the reporting manager.
Required Skills
- Good knowledge of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Strong knowledge of Tally Prime.
- Working knowledge of GST and TDS.
- Good understanding of bank, vendor and ledger reconciliation.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel, including basic reporting and data analysis.
- Basic understanding of budgeting and variance analysis.
- Ability to analyse accounting data and identify discrepancies.
- Positive communication and coordination skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
Educational Qualification
- B.Com / M.Com / MBA Finance or equivalent qualification.
- CA Inter / CMA Inter qualification would be an added advantage.
Experience
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in accounting and finance.
- Experience in education, services, or multi-entity organisations would be an advantage.
