Senior Accountant & Tax Specialist (India)

We are looking for a Senior Accountant & Tax Specialist (India) will be responsible for managing the full spectrum of accounting, statutory compliance, direct and indirect taxation, financial reporting, and financial controls for a US based Oil & Gas company company’s India entity.

The role will work closely with senior management and key internal and external stakeholders, providing timely financial information, technical guidance, and strategic support. The position requires exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills to ensure effective coordination with the Dubai headquarters, global finance teams, auditors, tax consultants, banks, government authorities, and other business partners.

The role will ensure accurate accounting, timely statutory filings, compliance with Indian regulatory requirements, and alignment of India’s financial processes with Company’s policies and reporting standards.

Reporting Status

This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Supervisor Responsibility

- This position will not initially have direct reports. However, the role may be required to guide and coordinate with external consultants, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Position Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Accounting & Financial Operations
- Manage the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the India entity in accordance with Indian GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, including general ledger review, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the accurate and timely posting of journals, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and adjustments.
- Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable and follow up with customers and vendors as required.
- Review financial transactions and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Logistics, HR, Operations, and global finance teams to ensure seamless financial operations.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure timely settlement.
- Oversee employee expense claims, reimbursements, and petty cash.
- Provide financial guidance and support to management for operational and commercial decisions.
- Ensure strict confidentiality and security of financial records.

Taxation & Regulatory Compliance

Manage and oversee all statutory and tax compliance requirements, including:

- GST registrations, monthly and quarterly returns, reconciliations, audits, and refund claims.
- TDS deductions, payments, returns, and Form 26AS reconciliations.
- Corporate income tax, advance tax, tax audit support, assessments, and responses to notices.
- PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, and other applicable statutory requirements.
- Companies Act and ROC filings, including annual returns, in coordination with the Company Secretary.




- Liaise with external tax consultants, auditors, and regulatory authorities to ensure accurate and timely statutory filings.
- Maintain a comprehensive compliance calendar and ensure all submissions are completed within prescribed deadlines.
- Support transfer-pricing documentation and intercompany compliance requirements.
- Monitor changes in Indian tax and regulatory requirements and advise management on their potential impact.
- Represent or support the company during tax assessments, audits, and regulatory queries.

Audit, Controls & Risk Management

- Coordinate internal audits, statutory audits, tax audits, and group audits.
- Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation and respond to auditor queries.
- Work closely with auditors, consultants, and senior management to ensure the timely completion of audits.
- Implement and maintain effective internal controls and SOX-aligned practices, where applicable.
- Identify financial and compliance risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain the fixed assets register and depreciation schedules and ensure timely capitalization and disposal recording.

Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis

- Prepare monthly MIS packs, including financial statements, variance reports, cost analyses, forecasts, and management commentary.
- Present financial information, key risks, and performance insights to the CFO and senior management.
- Support annual budget preparation, forecasting, and mid-year reviews for the India entity.
- Provide analytical insights regarding cost- saving opportunities, operational efficiency, cash-flow management, and process improvements.
- Assist global FP&A; teams by providing accurate and timely India-specific financial data.
- Support management with financial analysis and information required for strategic and operational decision-making.

ERP, Systems & Global Coordination

Perform accounting and reporting activities in Oracle Fusion Finance and act as the local finance super-user once trained.

Coordinate with global finance teams in Dubai, the USA, KSA, and other locations regarding finance policies, shared-services processes, reporting, and reconciliations.

Support the integration of India payroll, taxation, and local accounting requirements into Oracle Fusion or other relevant systems.

Prepare weekly and monthly financial and management reports for the Dubai headquarters and global offices.

Identify opportunities to improve and automate finance and reporting processes.





Stakeholder and Management Coordination

- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior management, global finance teams, auditors, banks, tax consultants, vendors, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Communicate complex financial and taxation matters clearly to both finance and non- finance stakeholders.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure timely resolution of financial, audit, and compliance-related matters.
- Provide regular updates to the CFO and management regarding financial performance, compliance status, risks, and pending actions.
- Demonstrate sound judgement, professionalism, and confidence when dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders.

Additional Duties

Assist with banking operations, vendor payments, salary-processing documentation, and customer invoicing.

Support cross-border transactions and compliance with Company’s financial policies.

Perform other finance-related duties assigned by the CFO or management.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and Professional Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Accounting, or Finance.

Qualified Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is mandatory.

Additional qualifications such as CMA, CPA, or a master’s degree in finance or accounting would be an advantage.

Requirements / Experience / Skills

Minimum of 10 years of progressive post qualification experience in accounting, taxation, statutory compliance, audit, and financial reporting in India.

Proven experience working with senior management and managing multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Experience in engineering, manufacturing, EPC, infrastructure, or project-based industries is preferred.

Experience working within a multinational organization or coordinating with international finance teams is strongly preferred.

Experience handling audits, taxation authorities, external consultants, and regulatory matters independently.

Technical Skills Strong knowledge and practical experience in:

Indian GAAP

GST, TDS, and corporate income tax

PF, ESIC, and Skilled Tax

Companies Act and ROC compliance

Transfer pricing and intercompany transactions

Financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis

Internal controls and audit requirements

ERP systems: Oracle Fusion experience is an advantage

Advanced Microsoft Excel and MS Office skills

Standard corporate work environment

Salary: INR 18 Lakhs / annum

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

Primarily office-based role in Mumbai;

Hybrid work / flexibility may be considered.
