Category Engineer - Proprietary (SCQ - P)

A purpose driven role for you

Your responsibilities will include but not limited to:

- Supplier Quality Assurance: Ensure the receipt of high-quality parts and services from suppliers through robust supplier evaluations, audits, and compliance checks.
- Supplier Development: Facilitate, handhold, and upgrade Supply Chain Partners (SCPs) through training and special capability improvement projects.
- Quality Sustenance: Secure quality and delivery sustenance for new model launches, multi-sourcing setups, and mass production.

A Day in the life

You will be working on day-to-day basis on following:

- Supplier Audits & Quality Control: A significant portion of the day is spent conducting product and process audits at supplier locations to address sporadic quality issues. This includes verifying Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) reports with marked samples, inspecting die and mold parts for disposal, and verifying TA markings, COP, and emission parameters.
- Problem Analysis & Action Implementation: The engineer actively identifies and validates the root causes of product nonconformances across incoming lots, warranty defects, and final/business unit quality issues (FI, MI, BUQI, VTQI, KD). They also monitor the effectiveness of these actions and ensure suppliers submit and approve Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) against Quality Failure Reports (QFRs).
- Supplier Upgradation & Support: Time is dedicated to facilitating and handholding suppliers to upgrade their quality ratings. This involves planning and executing special projects (like IMP Projects) at the supplier's end and working to improve the quality rate of critical parts.
- New Model & Change Management: The role requires managing risks during mass production by ensuring quality and delivery sustenance, evaluating new suppliers, and conducting change management and multi-sourcing process audits.
- Cross-Functional Coordination & Decision Making: Throughout the day, the engineer must navigate complex cross-functional alignments where internal stakeholders may have conflicting interests. They must make decisions even when information is limited or hazy,



using data and logic to propose trade-off solutions that keep mass production running smoothly.
- Management Reporting: The engineer prepares data and structured arguments to clearly explain and seek approval for quality plans from top management.

Academic Qualification & Experience

1. Education : B.Tech or Diploma.

- Experience: 4 to 8 years of cross-functional or cross-department exposure.

Technical Skills/Knowledge

1. In-depth Product & Process Knowledge: Deep understanding of Proprietary parts, specifically Electronics/Electrical, Mechanical, and Engine.

- Quality Core Tools: Proficiency in FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), and MSA (Measurement Systems Analysis)

3 Expert Audit Skills: Mastery in conducting product, process, multi-sourcing, and change management audits.
- Advanced Structured Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze and resolve root causes for product nonconformances (such as incoming lots, warranty, and final quality defects).
- GD&T; and Design Knowledge: Competency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T;), alongside Engineering Design and Tool Design & Validation.

Behavioural Skills

1. Expert in Stakeholder Management: Ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders effectively.

- Strong Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Crucial for collaborating and clearly explaining plans.
- Decision-Making Skills: Ability to make critical decisions, even when faced with limited information or hazy clarity.
- Assertiveness: Being assertive in handling responsibilities and interactions.
- Conflict Management: Essential for navigating challenging cross-functional alignments where various stakeholders have conflicting interests
