Job Summary

The Senior Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing workplace health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. The role involves risk assessment, incident investigation, and implementation of safety policies to prevent accidents and injuries.

Key Responsibilities1. Safety Management & Compliance
Ensure compliance with local, national, and international safety regulations (e.g., OSHA or applicable laws).
Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits.
Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments.
Recommend and implement corrective and preventive measures.
Maintain hazard identification and risk assessment (HIRA) records.
Incident Investigation
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses.
Prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
Recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Training & Awareness




Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and drills.
Promote safety awareness among employees and contractors.
Ensure proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
Emergency Preparedness
Develop and implement emergency response plans.
Coordinate mock drills (fire, evacuation, etc.).
Ensure availability and maintenance of emergency equipment.
Documentation & Reporting
Maintain safety records, reports, and compliance documentation.
Prepare monthly/weekly safety reports for management.
Liaise with regulatory authorities when required.
Team Leadership
Supervise safety officers and site safety staff.
Guide and mentor junior safety team members.
Coordinate with project managers, HR, and operations teams.

Qualifications & SkillsEducation
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Science / Safety Management
Diploma or Certification in Industrial Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH)
