Role Overview: We are looking for an OTDR Technician responsible for testing, analysing, and maintaining optical fibre networks using OTDR equipment. The role involves fieldwork, troubleshooting fiber issues, and ensuring network quality.
Key Responsibilities
Perform OTDR testing on fiber optic cables as per project requirements
Analyze OTDR traces to identify faults such as breaks, bends, and high-loss points
Measure attenuation, splice loss, and connector loss
Conduct end-to-end fiber testing from both ends (where applicable)
Perform fiber splicing and rectification of faults
Maintain accurate records of test results and reports
Capture GPS coordinates and geo-tagged photos/videos of sites
Follow assigned routes and project plans (desktop plan)
Submit daily reports and OTDR trace files (.sor format)
Ensure proper handling and maintenance of OTDR and splicing equipment
Requirements:
ITI / Diploma / Certification in Telecom, Electronics, or related field
Experience in OTDR testing and fiber splicing (preferred)
Ability to interpret OTDR traces and troubleshoot fiber issues
Willingness to travel extensively and work in field conditions
Basic knowledge of telecom fiber networks
Preferred Skills
Experience in telecom projects (FTTH / OFC / backbone networks)
Familiarity with GIS or survey-based projects
Knowledge of safety practices in field operations
Working Conditions
Field-based role with frequent travel
Work in rural, remote, and hilly terrains
Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
