We are looking for a Junior Backend Developer to join our engineering team. You will work closely with senior engineers to build and maintain the server-side services that power the product. This is a hands-on, growth-focused role: we expect solid fundamentals in JavaScript/Node.js, and we will help you ramp up on our project stack (NestJS) on the job. The right person is curious, takes feedback well, and wants to grow into a solid backend engineer by shipping real features in production.
Key Responsibilities
Build and maintain backend APIs and services under the guidance of senior engineers.
Write clean, readable, and testable code in JavaScript / TypeScript.
Integrate third-party and internal APIs into the backend.
Debug, fix, and test issues across the services you work on.
Participate in code reviews and sprint ceremonies, and learn the team's conventions.
Must-Have (required)
Around 1 year of backend experience — internships, freelance, or robust personal/academic projects all count.
Solid JavaScript fundamentals and a working understanding of Node.js (the runtime, async behaviour, npm).
Basic understanding of how REST APIs and HTTP work.
Basic familiarity with MongoDB and writing easy queries.
Comfortable using Git for version control.
Valuable problem-solving instincts, willingness to learn, and explicit communication.
Good to Have (Any of these is a plus, none required)
We don't expect juniors to know our project stack on day one — we'll train you on NestJS. Any prior exposure to the below is a bonus, not a barrier:_
TypeScript — any hands-on experience.
NestJS or Express — exposure to any backend framework.
MongoDB.
Authentication concepts (JWT, OAuth 2.0).
Docker basics, or any exposure to a cloud platform (AWS / GCP / Azure).
Basic Unix/Linux command-line comfort.
Familiarity with testing tools (e.g. Jest) or project trackers (Asana, Jira, Notion).
