Essential Responsibilities
Design, plan, and execute (under guidance) research projects related to aerospace materials, processes, systems and repair technologies, including ceramics, high temperature materials, hydrocarbons and dust resistant materials
Collaborate with other scientists & engineers, coating experts, quality & manufacturing experts, and technicians to develop and test new materials, coatings, processes, repair & cleaning technologies and support development programs
Translate test results into explicit, actionable conclusions for catalytic and other materials selection and coating processes
Prepare high-quality technical reports, presentations, and summaries, and present research findings to internal teams, business stakeholders, scientific conferences and meetings
Ensure laboratory safety through meticulous adherence to protocols, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and fostering a secure environment for research activities
Support method development, standardization, and continuous improvement of materials processing procedures and workflows.
Contribute to process improvements that enhance throughput, data quality, and reliability of test methods.
Qualifications and Requirements
PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Catalysis, or related fields
Experience conducting research and development in materials and chemicals processes, especially catalytic materials and coatings, dust and hydrocarbon resistant materials, ceramics, cleaning and repair technologies. Experience with materials selection, process development, testing and characterization methods, process parameters, performance testing, process variation control
Solid understanding of Materials Science, Chemistry, Catalysis, Hydrocarbons and Materials Characterization
Solid record of scientific publications/patents and conference presentations
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently in research projects
