Job Description:
Shift Incharge - Chemical / Pharmaceutical Plant
Position Overview
The Shift Incharge is responsible for managing all manufacturing activities during the assigned shift in a chemical or pharmaceutical plant. This role ensures secure operations, product quality, compliance with SOPs, and effective coordination between departments. The position requires solid technical knowledge, leadership, and the ability to make quick decisions on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Shift Operations Management
Supervise and monitor all production processes during the shift.
Ensure batch operations and equipment run as per SOPs and production plans.
Maintain required operational parameters (temperature, pressure, flow, etc.).
Ensure proper changeover, cleaning, and documentation for each batch.
Safety & Compliance
Enforce plant safety standards, PPE usage, and safe work practices.
Conduct shift-level safety rounds and audits.
Report and investigate near-miss incidents or unsafe conditions.
Ensure compliance with GMP, cGMP, ISO,
and regulatory requirements.
Quality Assurance
Ensure all manufacturing activities follow SOPs, BMRs/BPRs, and GMP guidelines.
Coordinate with QA/QC for in-process checks, line clearance, and sample approvals.
Report deviations, breakdowns, and abnormal observations immediately.
Team Management
Lead operators, technicians, helpers, and contract manpower on shift.
Assign tasks and ensure productivity and discipline.
Conduct on-the-job training for new staff.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete shift logbooks, production records, and process documentation.
Maintain batch records, equipment usage logs, and material consumption reports.
Handover proper details to next shift Incharge during shift change.
Equipment & Utility Coordination
Coordinate with maintenance for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.
Monitor condition of reactors, pumps, dryers, centrifuges, distillation units,
