Mid-Level HL7 & Cloud Integration Engineer

This mid-level role focuses on building data pipelines that connect traditional hospital systems with Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate knows how to handle HL7 feeds, connect to contemporary web APIs, and store data securely in the cloud.

Role Overview
Job Title: Healthcare Integration Engineer (Mid-Level)
Experience: 35 years in healthcare data integration.
Core Focus: HL7 pipelines, Google Cloud Healthcare adapters, and FHIR data storage.

Key Responsibilities
Interface Setup: Build and maintain inbound and outbound HL7 v2/v3 interfaces using Google Cloud Healthcare API adapters (such as the HL7v2-to-FHIR converter).
API Integration: Connect cloud pipelines to third-party healthcare APIs to securely send and receive patient data.
FHIR Management: Convert legacy HL7 messages into FHIR resources (e.g., Patient, Encounter, Observation).
Cloud Storage: Route, process,



and save incoming healthcare streams into dedicated GCP FHIR stores and BigQuery.
Monitoring: Trace data drops, connection errors, and mapping failures within the GCP logging setting.

Required Technical Skills
Healthcare Standards: Practical experience with HL7 v2 (ADT, ORU, MDM) and FHIR R4 structures.
Google Cloud Ecosystem: Hands-on knowledge of Cloud Healthcare API, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery.
Data Mapping: Ability to write mapping logic using JSON, XML, and liquid templates for HL7-to-FHIR conversion.
Networking & Security: Understanding of secure data transit via VPNs, MLLP, HTTPS, and OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience working with integration engines (e.g., Mirth Connect) or cloud-native healthcare pipelines.
