Role Overview:

A Generic Medicine Pharmacist focuses on providing cost-effective healthcare solutions by

dispensing affordable generic drugs and managing equivalent substitutions for branded prescriptions

safely. This role involves educating patients on drug bioequivalence, ensuring absolute compliance with

regulatory standards, and optimising inventory for affordable medicine segments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Generic Substitution: Evaluate branded prescriptions and legally substitute equivalent generic

medications while maintaining identical therapeutic outcomes.

• Dispensing & Verification: Accurately review, prepare, label, and dispense prescription drugs,

verifying exact dosage, strength, and clinical safety.

• Patient Counseling: Proactively educate patients on generic alternatives, overcoming

misconceptions by explaining identical active ingredients, efficacy, and safety profile.

• Inventory Control:



Monitor, stock, and reorder generic drug formulations while tracking shelf-life

and expiration cycles to avoid product deterioration.

• Clinical Collaboration: Consult with prescribing physicians when therapeutic interchanges or

alternative dosage adjustments are required.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) from a recognized

university.

• Licensing: Valid state or national pharmacist license to practice legally.

• Expertise: Solid understanding of chemical drug formulations, bioequivalence principles, and

generic equivalents.

• Communication: Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to handle patient doubts and counsel

effectively on brand-to-generic switching.
