Expectations from the Role
Manage catalogues & schemas: Create, alter, and delete catalogues and schemas;
set ownership and default properties across the meta store.
Access control & governance: Define and manage permissions (GRANT/REVOKE) on catalogues, schemas, tables, views, volumes, and functions.
Data security enforcement: Implement fine‑grained security using privileges, row filters, column masking, and tag‑based (ABAC) policies.
Metadata & data governance: Oversee table definitions,
lineage, tags, classifications, and ensure compliance with governance standards.
Administrative operations: Troubleshoot access issues, manage object ownership transfers, and support platform standards and best practices.
Cross‑workplace data copy: Move data securely from Prod to Non‑Prod using approved, automated pipelines.
Data masking: Mask or anonymize sensitive fields (PII/PHI/PCI) during or before data copy.
Deployments: Carryout deployments using CI/CD across various environments.
Data upload: Upload data to DataBricks as well as migrate data from other Databases to it.
