Job Description – Consultant Thoracic Surgeon

Position: Consultant – Thoracic Surgery
Department: Cardiothoracic / Thoracic Surgery
Reporting To: Medical Director / Head of Department
Location: Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre
Employment Type: Full time

Key Responsibilities
Evaluate, diagnose and manage patients with thoracic surgical conditions.
Perform elective and emergency thoracic surgical procedures.
Perform procedures including, as appropriate, VATS, thoracotomy, lung resections, wedge resection, lobectomy, pneumonectomy, mediastinal procedures, pleural surgery and chest wall surgery.
Participate in multidisciplinary management of thoracic oncology patients.
Provide pre-operative assessment,



surgical intervention and post-operative care.
Manage surgical emergencies and complications effectively.
Work closely with pulmonologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthetists, intensivists and other specialists.
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Participate in tumour boards, clinical meetings and departmental activities.
Contribute to teaching, training, clinical audits and quality-improvement initiatives.
Follow hospital protocols, infection-control standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
